About 15 years ago I took an admin position (I’m a teacher) that I thought was my dream job. I was horrible….getting fired was the best thing for my career, but it was still the hardest thing for me and my family to walk through. So in that way, I feel for him.
I believe CBN is a good man who works his tail off. I believe he is giving his all to UF. I still believe his approach is good (build a foundation rather than transfer mercenaries like FSU). At the same time, we are being boat raced at home by a first year coach playing a backup QB. I believe a change is needed and it really pains me to say it.
Cal and Stanford might be interested when they realize the pain of traveling a volleyball team over multiple timezones for a Tuesday night match.
We don’t because…checks notes…FSU, Notre Dame, Oregon. (Not a shot against Mizzou but can we at least have more than half a lunar cycle go by before we start pushing more certainties?)
So this article was pretty much what most CFB fans have thought since day 1, but with a great deal more metaphors...
The whole premise of this article is flawed. David describes the resume of an 8-4 average W/L record who is top 25 only 40% of the time and a conference title every half generation. And then says said coach is getting no love despite the fact that everyone and their brother has TU penciled into the playoffs and / or SEC Championship. Why even waste the bandwidth arguing against an idea pretty much no one holds?
1000% skimmed this article. What exactly does CG expect the commissioner to say in his opening remarks to his own conference? Should we expect a similar article when the commissioner of the American Athletic Conference gets up and waxes poetic about the quality of his conference?
When I said "hopefully" I mean that it changes the dynamics of the story if there was racing or alcohol involved. Hope it stays the way ESPN reported it...
ESPN has more details (surprise there). Looks like they were sideswiped by a speeding car where THAT driver was under the influence. There was no statement that connects the two cars so "hopefully" there was nothing else going on like street racing. No evidence that Jackson and others were doing anything wrong.
I fully believe that he did not have any conversations with tu staff during the season. Now, his agent? That is a horse of a completely different color....
I'm sure there is somewhere on this site where we can get betting odds as to the future of what this site will look like...or at least a link to some sort of DFS gambling site. **insert eyeroll**
I'm sorry!! Massive assumption on my part!!!!!! Agree with all else said...
He's pretty much been our opening day guy for a little bit now...opened up Clemson super regional and Okie State Regional. He's not some walk on soft throwing lefty we are throwing out there for funs and giggles.
Let's at least have fun with this...what company would be best for SEC (gotta consider all 16 teams--i.e. eliminating YellaWood--, so it needs to scream "southern football"
Pretty much what Clemson did. Told the guys I was sitting next to at the game that Cags shouldn't even break stride walking from the dugout to first.
All I want (outside of UF success) is for FSU to go "2 and a 'Que". Hopefully, UT boatraces them in Game 1.
Thx Dawgtime...for the record, I love the general tone of the chat /comment section for the baseball stories...wishful thinking that it will be this way come football season...don't understand why we can't treat football like we do baseball as fans (actually, I do understand...just think it's stupid to elevate football). Was torn with y'alls Game 3. On one hand, wanted SEC to get in, but on the other, I live in Raleigh and State is my adopted secondary team. Literally, any other school and I would be cheering hard for UGA.
I'm a bigger fan of college baseball than college football and have been following it for many years. However, I have never heard reference to the "Super 16" in an official way. Is this a thing or just another O'Gara-ism that is trying to be witty?
Got ur back on this one. Had zero problems with the IBB. Vandy at least has to try and keep game manageable at that point. At least 2 legit PAs earlier in the game. As both a Gator alum AND one well versed in baseball decorum, I was fine with the call
Even better, I think the guy that got hit was charged with a foul.
Same in MLB. Can't recall stats off the top of my head but I know the wild card series winners do better than #1 / #2 seeds in the divisional playoffs. Bats and arms go quiet in that week off.
When I was coaching HS, we had an all state pitcher get lit up by a team we would have run rules 9/10 times. Baseball happens….
So who are you going to believe: a father of a recruit or a media broadcaster? You must...choose wisely... ;)
A comment like this makes me think how I would be going to a "rival" school. Growing up a UF fan, could I go play for a UT, UGA, etc and be all in? Interesting psychology in play, for sure. (Un)fortunately, I wasn't good enough to get any recruiting love from any school so I didn't have to find out.
My prob with this article is how CG comes across as the smartest guy in the room, setting up anyone who disagrees with him as "lazy". For the most part, I would think people who get paid to be draft analysts would not be "lazy" (they could obviously disagree) because the more they mess up on their takes, the higher their chance of getting fired. Unlike, say, sports journalists who can make lazy takes all the time with no repercussions.
