First off-The picture shows one set of cheerleaders facing the opposite side of the crowd. They spelled Arkansas correctly- but this author is reading it backwards. If you are on the opposite side of the field then you’ll see Arkansas from Left to Right. From the picture, you have to read it from right to left. So thankful for this amazing news series and how writers earn points for clicks.
I agree - they have to join somewhere or risk being left behind. It makes sense for Big10 to go after them, and a lot of the Pac12 schools as well. Why put off the inevitable - if your goals is 24 teams...get them now.
Eventually, the Conference will grow and the ACC will be sitting on the outskirts. It would be smart for Clemson, VT, NC ST and FSU to join. UNC would be preferred but I believe their administration would rather be aligned with Big 10. Then, these teams will only play conference games. No outside schedules besides playoffs. Mini NFL
Plus, playing at 7000 ft above sea level is very difficult. Showing up two days before will never prepare you for that elevation.
Coach Chavis is great at his craft, and with the athletes on the TAM team, he'll get them prepared to do well. That was a great hire for TAM.
The Hogs have an offense that can support this quarterback, but the current QB doesn't have the skill set to enhance the passing attack (starting QB). He is a great game manager but only completed 55% of his passes. Some of that were the drops from receiver, but the offense is still geared to help a pro-style QB do well. Coach Freeze is an excellent coach, but that offense is still geared for a QB to run at times. True pro-style quarterbacks don't need to run north of the line-of-scrimmage, except when the pocket breaks down. Freeze's offense relies on using the QB to keep the defense on their toes.
The Hogs have been fortunate to get Bert, who tends to focus on outside behaviors - otherwise, they would be much higher. When Bobby P was there, they had an arrest every month.
I agree. I love watching their O-line. They are well coached and look to dominate opponents. As simple as it is, if you can't stop them from running 3.5 yards an attempt, then they'll just bowl you over throughout the game. It wears defenders down. I give Coach B props for sticking to his philosophy - I think many wrote him off when he entered the league.
Very true. Alabama played this same style for many years, but has moved away from it with with the new O.C. Not saying that move isn't good for them, but last year they didn't seem to be the same great offensive line that they had in the past. They looked more finesse than previous years. Maybe my perception is off, but that's what I saw. Nevertheless, Bama still had a wonderful year and should replicate that this year too.
Gus is an outstanding coach. He will utilize Johnson's arm more than what Auburn fans have seen over the past two years. Which is scary for the rest of us in the league. Good luck to all. Go Hogs & Mizzou...
I still like visiting College Station for game though. Nice atmosphere.
I guess you've got a lot in common with USC because it looks like you have done much in your lifetime either.
Kudos Mr. Walrus. I concur, and even though I do see Williams doing a better job in the second half of the season, its only because whenever AC is in the game, there is a higher percentage of him running the ball than the Razorbacks passing the ball. Compared to JW where there is a lower chance (lower than AC) of running the ball than passing the ball. JW does a great job in pass protection and that shows out on film, so opposing coaches start to see the trend and compensate accordingly.
A&M is certainly doing a great job of building their brand. Coming over to the SEC was the best move ever by their athletic department. They should have joined the Hogs back in 92, but we all live-and-learn. Kudos to A&M for building an awesome stadium.
I agree. Anyone who watched him play, knows how talented and great he was. I'm not even a Vol fan, but I, too, believe RW was the best defensive lineman to ever play football.
Excellent article Murf. I love how objective were in writing it. Keep up the great work.
