The A&M DL does look among the best in the SEC this year but the Alabama OL will be a better measuring stick than what they've had to this point. The A&M secondary looks like the softest spot on the defense and is susceptible to big plays. The offense looks more pedestrian compared to others in the SEC West. Maybe the best receiving core in the division but lots of little mistakes that add up and an OL that, while improved from last year, isn't dominant. The game against Alabama - as it always is for everybody - will help sort the year's pecking order.
Ha! This is correct and Thanksgivings will be better again. Just like Thanos getting that last Infinity Stone, the world is made right with Texas joining the SEC.
Right or wrong, legal or not, attack or defend, you are simply not going to outspend A&M when oil is north of $100/barrel.
It's a fair question and we don't yet know the answer. A&M recruiting is still focused on Texas HS. For many years, it was unusual to have more than 1-2 players on the team from a HS outside the state of Texas. 88 of the 117 players on the 2020 team were from Texas. While A&M now holds a slight edge over the school in Austin in terms of instate recruiting, it is still only slight. There is a big gap in national recruiting between A&M and the likes of Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State. While I think A&M has a coaching staff capable of building a consistently solid team, unless A&M can become a conduit for the nation's best HS players, they will have a hard time winning championships.
