I can never get over that ending dunk. Like, absolute perfect timing. Fireworks going off, fans rushing. Pretty intense.
>Great job by both teams, but our secondary got torched by an outstanding Bama QB. This is true. Our zone defense was no match for their offensive schema until we got into the red zone, where we were able to cover less ground. >Thankfully though, none of those determined the outcome, partly because we overcame most of them. This is incorrect. That catch did determine the outcome of the game. The asterisk being that they would have had one last series to try to win the game on. It's good perspective to imagine that it was an Arkansas player but even then, I still couldn't have imagined it being called a touchdown when 1) the ball was bobbling until the receiver was out of bounds 2) the ball touched the ground before control, and 3) as the play continued, he continued to drag the ball on the ground into his chest / gut. Overall, it was a great game and, based on history, Alabama probably would have still come out with a win on the last series (they only needed a FG). Just disappointed that our defense didn't get the opportunity to actually show up on that last series.
It's true. Some of the plays we were coming up with were really quality. There was one specific pass to Burks to get a first down when he had two defenders on him that felt absolutely top-notch. Arkansas would not make those plays in the past. The loss was bearable in spite of what feels like a bad TD call.
In fairness, one of the refs did block a defender during the fake field goal attempt. Pretty sure it was an accident though.
I'm still trying to figure out how dragging a football across the ground into your chest out the back of the endzone is control of the football. But...Gary Danielson seemed to think it so I guess that makes sense.
If MSU really wants to make sure they beat Arkansas, they should look at the film of how Alabama evidently beat Arkansas earlier this year.
Going for two was right. These two teams were just back to back scoring on each other and would nearly be guaranteed to have been in the third overtime. With the 2021 rules, it would have come down to 2 point conversions anyways so Pitmann just took control when he had the opportunity rather than waiting. Arkansas just needed a better two point play.
Unfortunate that we are scraping the bottom here hoping to find gold. Let's just hold off for a year. I'd rather have Miles than these.
So was Beilema. Much more interested in someone who is going to win.
So glad we have our uniforms to be proud of.
2020 is a whole 3 years away. Glad Bielema could set this up for our next coach.
I love the Battle Line Rivalry! Or the state line rivalry. Or whatever it's called. I'm soooo glad they replaced our Thanksgiving weekend game with LSU with mighty Mizzou. #saidnohogever
The best solution is North - South realignment. Missouri, Arkansas, Vandy, TN, SC, Georgia, and Kentucky would be a good North subdivision. :)
