He means the game was close in terms of the battle in the trenches, not in terms of the halftime score. Arkansas did a lot to beat themselves in the first half with unforced errors. If you ignore unforced turnovers and the score in the first half and look at the stats, you would have guessed that the game was tight.

I agree with Prescott, and it sounds like a well thought out response. I absolutely hope he comes back from a selfish perspective, but as he says if he is projected to go high, the risk in returning is too great. Particularly in a league, where players can't profit off their names and are worthless once injured (see Gurley). I can't knock his response. #HailState

Actually Mississippi State's first ranked game was not at home. It was in Baton Rouge against LSU. The second and third ranked opponents came at home.

Why go to Florida when you have guaranteed yourself more money and job security for the next several years at a place where you are guaranteed to be THE GUY in the programs history. He's not going to go somewhere and be a follow up act, and no job security. See Kiffin to USC. The reality is that places like Florida you have to win immediately, but the current SEC will not allow teams to rebuild that quickly on average no matter how big your brand is. It takes at least a few years, but these programs are too impatient when it comes to rebuilding.

Mullen never lobbied for a penn state job. The papers kept name dropping him because he has family ties there and he came out pretty hard to rebuke it, and asked them to stop.

Perception: Mississippi's Secondary is talentless and can't compete against the elite passing teams in the league. Reality: In MSU secondary's two worse games (UAB and LSU), the MSU defense sold out to the run and the secondary went to sleep late in games after not getting much action and got caught out of position on the deep ball. This will not be the case with a team like A&M, which does not have a great running game and sells out to the pass. State will be expecting the pass, and the secondary will not fall asleep or get caught out of position as much. Mississippi States secondary is undisciplined, but not untalented, and after a by week and two weeks to prepare, Collins will have them ready.

Except he did the same BS in week 1, when Dak was healthy. He calls it building a two deep, which if fine to me at every position other than Quarterback. Quarterbacks needs to be loose and in rhythm, which this every other drive crap isn't good for. If Mullen wants to protect Prescott's health, put him in early, let him win the game ONCE, and then clear the bench and let him rest.
