Russell is owned by Fruit of the Loom. I wonder if GA Tech gets underwear and wife-beaters in their deal.
Great comment-- Half-assed write up indeed. We aren't lacking in talent really anywhere except WR and O-Line. The defense alone will make us a viable contender for the East. Luckily, every team in the East is dealing with quite a few variables right now, so it should be an interesting battle.
I apologize as my phone was having issues. I'm absolutely mind blown how UF's secondary isn't on this list. Almost every publication that's done such a ranking considers them to be one of the top 5 secondaries in the country, yet they don't make this list. Y'all get grief for nearly every article y'all write and it's not because you're biased towards any program or because you can't please all 14 SEC fan bases. It's simply because y'all publish articles with minimal research and off-kilter rankings.
I'm fine with UF being at 2, but the statement that says "UF may not have a history of consistent success" is ridiculous. Do y'all realize that up until 2 seasons ago, UF was the winningest college program since 1990? That's 23 years of consistent success.
Florida should have 9. Though Janoris Jenkins finished his career with S Alabama, he spent most of his career at UF and made his name there.
Though we should have still won, it should be noted that we were down 17 scholarship players to season ending injuries and were playing a 2 star QB who was only on the roster because his dad is an NFL coach.
That would be 22 years from 2014. He was speaking of 20 years from the day rather than any given 20 year period.
I have to agree with arkansasfan2015 with regards to ARK being pretty good. They've been competitive with everyone for the most part. They are probably the best 4-5 (or worse record) team in the country. I think they'll give Mizzou, Ole Miss, and LSU competitive efforts, but I don't see them pulling out 2 wins.
From a fellow Floridian, I'd say you're spot on. To me, the SEC is very much about culture. UCF and USF wouldn't fit the culture at all. They have no history and ultimately they aren't located in areas that fit into the SEC culture. Florida, as you said, is very diverse across the state. North Florida (so UF makes sense) is no different than South Alabama or South Georgia with regards to Southern culture, whereas central Florida and South Florida are very transient and filled with people from the Midwest and North. As a result of the demographics of Central and South Florida, it'd be difficult for UCF and USF to gain a following. I think they'd be able to recruit just as well as the Ole Miss or Miss State, but that would only go so far if they weren't filling up their stadiums and had people hyped about their program. As a side note, I don't want Jersey Shore guidos saying they're a part of the SEC now anyway...
Per a source of mine that works for the UAA, if Muschamp were to be fired mid-season rather than at the end, the UAA would owe him an extra 6 million. Given that they aren't going to hire anyone mid-season in the event of his firing and the financial ramification if fired, he will not be fired until the end of the season. Debate over.
I couldn't agree more with you, volsuoft. There really aren't any issues with what AJ said. He didn't explicitly bad mouth Saban or his team. Everything started when he innocently said he'd love to be out on the field during the Ole Miss game for a drive. I think we'd all feel nostalgic at that point and wish to be out there. It's natural for a passionate competitor to want to have the reigns of his team's destiny. Good job 2014 media on making a mountain out of a mole hill. Between liberalism and constant dramatization via the media, I'm pretty sick.
Remember John Brantley? Gatorade National Player of the year. Never turned out to be anything for Florida at QB. Jeff Driskel? #1 QB in the 2011 class. Will also never be anything for Florida. Will Grier? Parade National Player of the year. Please Lord, let this be 3rd time the charm.
Such an anticlimactic conclusion. You would have made everyone believe that Florida would fundamentally dismantle Bama...and you still went with Bama.
Man, y'all Mizzou fans are rabid on this website.
Damn this is a dumb topic. Does the uniform have anything to do with winning? It's all about winning and if you ain't first, you're last.
It's not a matter of opinion. I was at the game and witnessed that "delay of game" you speak of. The ball was simultaneously snapped as the clock hit zero in the stadium. Just as the first down line isn't always correct on TV, the play clock isn't always accurate either. The SEC released their statement of the call, explained standard protocol for the back judge, and was adamant that the correct call was made. Move on.
Florida has had top 3-5 recruiting classes since recruiting rankings began and to think we're struggling this much and in the same sentence as some other SEC teams is really bothersome. The tone of SDS articles of recent seems to forget UF's dominance the last 2.5 decades. Very sad.
I was there too and this is true. Just as that little yellow line doesn't always accurately mark the first down, the play plays clocks on tv aren't always accurate either.
Exactly. No team in the country could have been more decimated that UF last year.
Debose is a 6th year senior. He also had 0 catches for 0 yards. He was targeted only 3-4 times the whole game. I'm interested to know where you got your information.
