To put it in perspective: Not OK = You smell like a corndog. OK = Go To Hell
Mental capacity? You say "he never said Starkville was the ultimate job". Please read the title (and text) of the article, if you're capable: Mullen: Mississippi State the 'ultimate destination job' When asked about moving to a school other than Mississippi State, he says “the grass isn’t always greener.” Of course, he HAS to say that at this point, but it leaves little doubt he's talking specifically about Starkville/MSU. This week, he made his most definitive statement on the speculation yet....[REGARDING A MOVE] .... "this is the ultimate destination job. " “Why would we want another (job)? Everybody wants this job, right?” Interesting comment and picture from this story: http://www.chatsports.com/michigan-wolverines/a/Michigan-football-Top-Ten-Replacements-for-Brady-Hoke-If-He-Gets-Fired-10-2-5092 --> Mullen is from Big Ten country (grew up in PA) and his wife is an Ohio U grad, so getting him to leave the SEC isn’t as big of a hurdle as some may think. Mullen is the hottest coach in football right now, coaching the nations’s #1 team, and will certainly be pursued by Florida and NFL teams if he’s interested in a salary hike and a higher-profile job. What higher-profile job could they be talking about? He's already got the ultimate destination job. ;-) Or maybe he no longer feels that way if he's #4.
So you believe he was being sarcastic when he said Mississippi State "is the ultimate destination job" and "everyone wants this job, right" ? Gee, I hope not. I'd hope he thinks more of MSU than to make a remark like that in sarcasm. As I said... I don't care whether he stays or goes. And you have no idea whether or not I have anything vested in State, or what school is mine. But just to let you know, I have pretty good investment over the years in education at MSU. Yet, I really don't care if MSU wins it all or not. Or Ole Miss. Or Alabama. I'm simply pointing out that --- any way you slice it --- Mullen is making a comment that he couldn't possibly believe is true. And if you're right --- if he's being sarcastic about liking his job at State --- I don't know why you'd want a guy like that to hang around.
A "neutral field" argument against Bama being best can also easily be made about MSU vs Auburn, A&M and Arkansas as well.... Cowbells in the stadium had a huge effect on all three of those games.
@TheBeardo Matters not to me if he stays or goes. My contention is that Mullen's statement is false. Whether he leaves or stays, Starkville is NOT the ultimate destination job in all of college football, as Mullen states. Except maybe for him personally. But he did say "EVERYONE wants this job, right?" Do you really believe that, if there is a vacancy, that EVERY top coach in the nation will want their name in consideration, including those who would take a pay cut of millions of dollars, just to come to Starkville? If you can't say "yes" to this question, then you disagree with Mullen.
First, it's not "my little link". But it is accurate, as is my post. Your chance to prove Mullen's comment true will come when he leaves and a tsunami of high profile coaches begin clamoring to come to Starkville because it is the ultimate destination job in all of college football. Until that happens, every word in your post is just fantasy football.
"Everybody wants this job, right?” No, Danny... No they don't... It's the 2nd lowest paying job in the SEC. Probably always will be. That is why you're there... After you're gone, I'll be looking for Nick Saban, Charlie Strong, Kevin Sumlin, Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and Brady Hoke in a mad dash for Starkville.... Geezzz...... http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/sec-head-coaches-salaries-2014/
