Just a woman that loves Bama and SEC football

I dunno, but now I CANNOT wait for a reporter to ask him about the next "Saban to wherever" rumor! Lol.
I'm fairly rational/reasonable and think it's a combination of things. Richt meant well, but by being a buddy aka "players' coach," he established a relaxed/forgiving culture at UGA. Kirby inherited that culture and given the controversy surrounding Richt's exodus, probably went for the players' coach approach himself (at least in his 1st year) in an effort to keep the team united. For both, UGA's 1 game suspension policy is/was more of a crutch than a cure imo. Maybe neither thought that additional punishments are/were needed because missing 1 game should be "enough," and they could remain the good guys by saying its UGA's policy, not mine, so my hands are tied, but because you're already suspended, I'm not going to make it any rougher on you, which really only compounds the issues because the behavior is never truly being addressed. Suspensions aren't an effective form of punishment if they don't decrease bad behavior and UGA has a lot of repeat offenders, so maybe suspensions aren't the best/only way to deal with player issues? Having the "toughest" policy in the SEC doesn't really mean squat when ya still have the most guys ending up in the pokey y'know? No offense. There are other factors of course. Georgia has A LOT of the best talent in the country and with great talent comes great egos that are difficult to manage. Some players come from less than ideal backgrounds and it's hard for a coach to override what life experience has shown them to be "normal." Plus, being in the same conference as Saban puts an insane amount of expectations on SEC coaches so maybe they're somewhat inclined to tolerate some bs to maintain a competitive edge/keep their job. Those are just a few thoughts as to "why," and I can further elaborate if you'd like but I don't want to annoy everyone by being too long winded. Lol. For the record, I like UGA and just want everyone doing the best they can so please don't take my perspective as a personal attack. Bama has its issues too, but it's UGA's that you asked about. ;)
I think the fball gods knew that having Henry and Fournette on the same team would've been more awesomeness than I could handle. Still, there's a part of me that's always gonna wish I could've seen that tandem. I totally get it though. Home is home, especially to a southerner. Fball helped heal our people after the tornadoes and I'd imagine that hope in Fournette probably did the same thing for Louisiana after The Flood. If I were a guy, I bet it couldn't get much better than to receive an offer from the team I grew up loving so I can't blame Fournette for living out his dream in HIS state. Plus, with him being a young father, it's commendable that he chose to stick around and be a real dad to his too stinkin' cute lil girl and new baby boy. I may have a tiny twinge of regret, but LF shouldn't. I wish him and his family nothing but the absolute best moving forward.
Eew! Was calling it "jock itch" supposed to make it sound better? Lol. I'd probably be more offended by a guy cratchin' his funky junk in front of me than by whipping it out in a sad, SAD attempt to hit on me. Either way, that's just nassy and totally inappropriate. Ship his peter pulling self back to Oregon and move on. After all, y'all are home of the 12th man so you shouldn't have much trouble overcoming this "loss" (if that's what you'd call it).
Any money made by the schools on alcohol sales would be gone in the first lawsuit filed by the parents of a dead, underage college student that wrapped him/herself around a tree leaving a game drunk on alcohol provided by an institution of higher learning. I can see both sides of the argument, but ultimately, selling beer at games is like the SEC saying that every stupid thing college kids do when they're drunk is okay if the SEC is providing the booze. It is a FACT that alcohol kills brain cells and impairs judgement so how would it make any sense for a SCHOOL to provide students with the means to do so? People that want to drink at a game are going to whether the SEC sells them beer or not, but at least this way, the SEC isn't liable for whatever happens afterwards.
There was a BAD stomach virus going around at that time. I had it, lost nearly 10 lbs, and wasn't right for almost a week. I'm impressed that he could stand up let alone attend the combine if we had the same bug. He was wounded in the back when his dad shot his mom with her holding him. His dad fled, was arrested and brought back to Alabama. Then he escaped in '96, and spent 16 years in hiding before he was arrested again. So for pretty much his entire life, he's had to think about his dad every day, yet he's still managed to be a good father himself and graduate with a degree that will provide him and his daughter with opportunities when fball is over. He should remain a 1st round pick because a diluted sample isn't the same as a positive one and if he never failed a test while at U of A then he shouldn't be perceived as a risk. I wish him nothing but the best of luck and I'm grateful for the memories. His mom may not be with us anymore, but this mom is, and I really hope RF knows how proud of him she would be no matter what round he goes in.
Lol. Sorry for the length Bunker sir... And I'm not picking on Simmons or Stringfellow, just saying there's a big difference in making choices that hurt oneself and making choices that hurt others. I believe that any one person's "rights" end where someone else's begin.
Well, PF is entitled to his opinion, but speaking as a fan, I'm not at all disappointed in our players. The Ohio State loss was on Kiffin because he had a future Heisman rb averaging like 7+ yds per carry, yet for whatever reason, he abandoned the run when it was working. Cristobal gets my blame vote on the Clemson loss because our o-line can't even line up without getting a penalty with him in charge and that results in drives that go nowhere (or backwards) for Bama. And, as much as it pains me to say it, I think Kick 6 is on Saban for not having anyone on the field that could catch Davis. Barners are sneaky and we don't ever get to forget that, even in the last second of a game. ;) So imo, the NCs that were left "on the table somewhere," were a result of coaching errors which has nothing to do with the level of talent among our players. Plus, if PF is using NFL talent to determine who "underachieved," wouldn't the Ohio State loss be reasonable since they had a record number of players drafted from that team?
1) Louisiana is an open carry state where "open carry" also applies to your vehicle so the guns weren't required to be registered in order to be considered legal. 2) Cam had the receipt from purchasing the "stolen" gun at a pawn shop. The prosecutor even said, "We CANNOT prove that he obtained it illegally," which is why the felony charge was dropped. 3) When you have 5 kids in a car with a gun and weed laying in the floorboard and no one claims either, by law, they're supposed to arrest EVERYONE in that car, not pick out the Bama players and let the LA kids go, but Monroe PD did, which is why they couldn't prosecute Cam or Hootie. 4) Smoking a doob with some friends and guns where no one gets hurt is an apple and oranges comparison to beating the crap out of a chick. If you were going to pick a "glass houses" example, you should've gone with Jonathan Taylor, who was dismissed as soon as he was charged, even though the chick recanted her statement to the police and faced criminal charges herself. Please don't minimize the seriousness of violence against women by acting like any and all arrests among players are equal. They're not. You either cross that line and hurt someone or you don't, and if you don't, you shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as someone that did.
He's definitely the first gay/bi serial killer in the NFL that I know of...
Yeah, I was never gonna get "Tongue" from "Tag." Thanks for clearing that up. I've been trying to pronounce his name correctly for years now.
I mean "season" as in, from start to whenever it's all said and done, Bama REMAINED perfect. Either '07 or '08 was probably my favorite Saban season because you could just FEEL where things were headed. '11 and '12 were great too though because those teams had that "will not be denied" attitude, especially after the LSU/Aggies loss. It's crazy to me that some folks could think of those seasons as "sad," when it's actually been a joyride y'know?
Lmao! I don't mean to sound ungrateful for all that Kiffin did for us, but man! That guy is a 5* dbag. It's like he never learns to just keep his mouth shut. I'm sure it was a little embarrassing to have Saban crawl his azz on national television, but most folks with a lick of sense (or maturity) would be more concerned with correcting whatever they were doing wrong that caused the azz chewing in the first place instead of focusing on how it hurt their wittle feelings. Saban gave AJ a whooping on national tv and went on to win 2 NCs and came literally within 1 second of playing for a 3rd without his ego ever getting in the way. Granted, AJ @19 was probably more mature than Kiffin @40+ though. Nah, he probably won't "humiliate" his assistant coaches, but he probably won't ever do anything relevant on a national level either because his ego gets in the way of him doing what needs to be done.
Sad? No way hun! It's been AWESOME!!! Even the times when things didn't go Bama's way, I still feel honored that my Tide got to compete against some of the BESTS this game will ever see. Tebow/Urbs @ UF, Spurrier, Miles in his hay day with those brutal defenses, Cam, Manziel, Watson, Urbs and that ridiculously talented tOSU team... Nah, it's not "sad" in the least lil bit and if it all came to a screeching halt today, I'd feel nothing but gratitude for the privilege of bearing witness to this past decade of SEC/Bama history.
Season. 2009 was Saban's only undefeated season at Bama. The title makes it sound like it's just Kick 6 that haunts Saban when the truth is anytime a Bama team could have or should have performed better, it's a sore spot with Saban. Kick 6 haunts us all I think, but for me, it was because we didn't get a chance at the 3-peat, whereas for Saban, it's probably because he feels like there was something different he could've done in that moment (like perhaps having SOME personnel on the field that could catch that friggin' Barner lol). Anyhoo, I disagree with the author as well. I think that the challenge and games like Kick 6, Clemson and Ole Miss are what keeps him coaching. The day he realizes his "Process" has been perfected is the day he'll retire and move on to a new challenge.
No hun, I'm not a troll, just a chick that loves Bama/SEC fball. It's not easy to talk about that part of Bama's history, but we don't get to totally ignore it either y'know? And our fans shouldn't be inviting any bad karma by acting like we've never been there ourselves. If y'all can get past the chick thing, which shouldn't be all that unusual to any southern guy because chicks all over the south love fball, then you'll find at least one Bama fan that you like chatting with since my intentions aren't to pee on anyone's parade. I'm almost always pleasant and respectful of others... As long as the subject isn't Jim Harbaugh because the gloves come off for that clown. Lol
Well I didn't mean it in a bad way, so I hope he isn't offended at all. A say, 20 year old (or younger) Bama fan naturally wouldn't remember much before Saban, but I do, and our younger fans need to remember too, or at least be made aware of how far Bama had fallen in the decade prior to Saban's arrival if they're ever going to fully appreciate what Saban has done at Alabama. There aren't enough words to describe how great things are now and there weren't enough words to describe how bad things were back then. It's hard to believe that a Bama fan that actually experienced those times would laugh at anyone else going through the same thing which is why I doubt Bama here did. I did though and I only hope that it blows over more quickly for y'all than it did for us. Good luck sir.
You must be pretty young if you find it amusing because before Saban, that was us, only the Rebs didn't "earn" the distinction of having their violations called "the worst the NCAA has ever seen," and they were never in danger of receiving the death penalty like we were. Bama cheated - A LOT - through the Stallings' exodus and Saban's arrival and we have exactly ZERO championships to show for it so I'm not sure how you can rightfully laugh at the Rebs now. It's soooo NOT funny when tons of fans suffer because of the decisions made by a select few.
He only mentioned watermelon AFTER Razorback got "racist" from "honey fried chicken" though. Lol. Just because you've heard the watermelon or fried chicken thing before doesn't mean that's your own personal association with either. My $ is on the hog being the racist of the 2 since he's the one trying to create controversy where it otherwise didn't exist.
"Southern," not "black." I believe that is what the Colonel is pointing out here.
Well, it's also pretty obvious that the Razorback associates fried chicken with black folks since the headline didn't say the first thing about race. You say "fried chicken" or "watermelon" and the first thing that comes to my mind is
Someone may want to tell the NFL that their "SEC bias" is showing... AGAIN. ?
ALL coaches report those type of things and they should. It only made the news because it was Saban doing it.
