“fairness”, what is that supposed to mean? No one is stopping any school from fielding a national championship team. If they want it bad enough they will do what Bama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Ohio St, FSU, USC, etc did and or continue to do. Teams that can’t even win their conference on a regular basis whining about not getting in the play off…really? People don’t want fairness, they want a shortcut. At least call it what it is.
^…this, spot on. The conferences aren’t equal in strength, neither are the schedules, winning a weak conference doesn’t mean a thing.
The SECCG absolutely was a play off game for Bama last year. It was win or go home. Boy I just can’t wait for those play off games with Iowa State, Coastal Carolina and Baylor…dozens of eyes will be riveted to the screens for that. Just another example of people crying about not being able to complete so they change the rules.
That’s exactly the problem, who wants to be like the NFL/
Sad to see this happen, something special has been lost and now it’s just like every other sport. We already had play off games in the regular season, Iron Bowl, Michigan Ohio St, conference championship games, etc. It was better when the team with the best regular season performance was crowned champion instead of handing the title to a team that gets hot at the right time.I know it’s all about the $, and appealing to a wider (bandwagon) fan base who only pay attention when/if their favorite team is winning.
Why is no one mentioning that Ole Miss has ran up these stats against 3 terrible teams, with 2 of those games at home? Corral is a great QB, but he’s facing a whole different level on the road on Saturday.
There’s no way on earth that Costal belongs in the playoff, it would be a complete waste of time and effort for Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St., etc. to have to play them. There were 4 teams just in the SEC that would’ve gone 11-0 against that schedule.
Play off expansion is a bad idea all the way around. One of the beauties of college football is the uncertainty, the controversy, the eye test and the dominance of one or two teams over a period of time. The arguments go back decades over who should have been #1, that’s the fun of it. That’s what makes this sport unique. Why give that all up? No second chances, every game matters, win and your in.
Expanding the play off beyond 4 teams is an awful idea. Win and you’re in, pretty simple. The controversy and different opinions as to who is #1 are unique to college football...go watch basketball, baseball, hockey if you want something different.
Tuberville is going to curb stomp Jones at the voting booth in November by 15%+. Book it.
Blatant example of fake news, so obviously biased. Crowd reaction was “bigly” positive.
I thought the kid did a decent job and seemed to improve as the year went on.
