long suffering Gamecock

pistol pete was a great scorer and man, but no, not the best basketball player ever.
we wish we were, but traditionally (way back) we were always a basketball school. More money has been wasted on that football program. Only the congressional waste matches it.
In 2017 the 'cocks best player got the flu the day prior to the final 4, and had to play Gonzaga whilst getting an iv off and on. I contend if not for that, we would have won it all in 2017. The team was red hot, and full of confidence. Plenty of teams like this have won it all out of nowhere. #12? you totally discount the circumstances. Look at who we beat in the tourney that year- when healthy- and by how much.
LSU marine has earned the right to his opinion. I disagree with part of it, but he's certainly earned it. Leave him alone, y'all.
extremely proud of my 'cocks. picked to live in the cellar we are relevant in March. Hasn't happened a lot since we left the ACC. Loving it. So we lost to a better team. Who cares? what a season it's been thus far.
obviously we made the right hire. I didn't think so at the time but I'm happy to report it seems I was dead wrong!
thrilled he is coming back! should have been the head coaching hire when Spurrier quite abruptly on us.
this seems to be some good news for our 'cocks'.
"Flash" when did i ever brag how great Beamer ball is?! Truth is we don't have the money to dish out for NIL like other programs. Very soon it will be just a few programs that can truly compete every year. Very bad for college ball. Why bother watching or going to games if you truly have no chance year after year to even be competitive?

overreaction of the new year to noting that our conference's stranglehold on championships is over, and we have real competition finally with the moves the big 10 has made. All we are saying is that we are guessing the playing field will be more level. All things change in sports and life. I remember when it was unthinkable that Alabama would ever be a championship program again. It wasn't that long ago.
that is EXACTLY my take, '73. We don't have the money and if things continue like this will never be in a position to be competitive again.
i think most would agree with that, but most seasons in college and pro you could make the same argument. it's about the matchups (in the NCAA tourney, too).
i basically said the same yesterday re: winds of change and the nay sayers jumped all over me. two conferences vying for the title every year and the footing is now more equal with what the big 10 added.
as Vince Lombardi famously said "What the hell's going on around here?!"
I'm guessing you're pretty young by your 'comment', FranksB. Winds are changing doesn't mean look at last 20 years. It means look ahead. You see the 2 teams in the title game are now Big 10, right? We don't have to like it, but change is inevitable in all things. Good luck, kid.
I can feel the winds changing as they always do in sports and life. Big 10 has expanded adding more quality teams, bigger footprint. For a change the SEC is playing catch up. We need to add clempsun, free shoes U and UNC before the ACC dissolves and is gobbled up by the Big 10. There are about to be only 2 conferences, y'all.
the talent drain is very concerning. The game/ money are changing rapidly. Hard to imagine any way we can ever be competitive again with NIL and the 'new' developments/ plans.
As a Gamecock (91), the departures these past 2 seasons are extremely concerning.
and... go "cocks! life long abusive relationship I know...
Make fun of Chris Wright all you want but Chris was Right! Wow. I really thought FSU would get in over bama (no, i don't think they're better even WITH their QB). But congrats- he nailed it. I had 3 right, he had 4. Now go out and win, SEC!
turns out that article was BS, fortunately. Dawn spoke directly about it today. apply the 48 hour rule- always. Everyone is looking for a hit piece these days.
well, we did beat auburn 2 years in a row, so there's that. It's better than losing to those bastards 2 years in a row.
BJ McKie should be the hire. He deserves a chance. This looks like a really stupid hire. This reeks of the Sparky Woods hire way back...
and I forgot- best of luck to Frank Martin. Really a great guy and a class act. I hope he stays involved with us in some capacity.
Give Mckie the job. Roll the dice on him. I don't want any more Murray State re-treads. BJ has earned the right to be given a shot. What do we have to lose?!
