Several independent investigations were done and there was simply not enough evidence to issue an arrest warrant. In the court of public opinion Jameis Winston seems to have been judged guilty. I disagree but feelings on the issue are so strong on both sides that arguing the point is useless. Simply put, Mr. Winston will have to live with these accusations for the rest of his life. And there will always be those who believe he is a rapist. The fact of the matter is many college athletes are overly privileged teenagers who routinely exercise poor judgement because they can. It is also true that people make false allegations for their own personal gain. Because rape is such a serious crime victims are given the benefit of the doubt as far as their honesty is concerned. But the justice system requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt. That just does not exist in this case. It is my belief that if such proof existed Jameis Winston would be in jail right now. But I am just like everyone else in this. All I have is an opinion. I just happen to believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty.
