IF OSU, PSU, & Michigan ended the season in a 3-way tie, Ohio State would have got the bid because of higher poll ranking. The Michigan loss to Iowa created a situation where that was not gonna happen. FWIW: Home-field advantage within the Big-10-East was paramount. The Buckeyes only loss was at Penn State. Michigan's 2 losses were at Iowa & at Ohio State. Penn State's losses were at Michigan & at Pitt. Ohio State was able to win on-the-road AT Oklahoma, Wisconsin, & Mich. State.
