Exactly, you're 100% right. Success during the current year affects recruiting. Kiffin simply answered the dumb question.
Although I wasn't thrilled that LSU had over 600 yards of total offense, I agree with you that many of the throws were contested. JD was dropping dimes tonight.
I'm glad the X-Rays were negative. I have so much respect for Matt - when asked about opting out, he said that his teammates put him in this position, so it would be wrong not to play. And a note on Kiffin - I know he has his detractors, but listening to his press conference when asked about Corral, or listening to the players talk about the closeness of the team when they all opted-in for the bowl game, who wouldn't want to play for this guy?
I'm sure future NCAA players will use this as a reason to opt-out. But I give Matt mad props for his dedication and have nothing but respect for him. Chances are that a player won't be injured in a specific game, but unfortunately, he did. I hope the injury is not serious. Best of luck in the NFL, Matt!
McAulay is the same twit who became so upset when Kiffin joked at halftime of the Louisville game about the targeting calls. Lane's remark was funny as hell, but McAulay seemed to get butthurt on behalf of all referees. Sometimes I wonder whether his ego just forces him to say something stupid so his name is in the discussion.
Sorry, I should proofread - should have been "but after the SEC ..."
I'll admit that I get annoyed when I see ... Fools like the Cincy fan holding the sign claiming that Cincy had a better record at 13-0. 13-0 against high school teams does not equal 12-1 in the SEC, especially the SEC West. Folks crowing about the SEC bowl record. They never take into account the disparity in the matchups. For instance, the #2 AAC team, UH, played 6-6 Auburn. And Auburn still could have won. SEC teams usually play teams which are higher in their conferences. It is not apples to apples - just like a good record against weaker competition does not indicate that your school would have a similar record if it played in the SEC. I know it hasn't been 'Bama's best year, who after the SEC Championship game and yesterday's games, who can argue that the 2 best teams are not playing?
My sister, who went to Ole Miss just like I did is crying over the 'Bama/Georgia matchup too. Her son just graduated from UH, so she was all over Cincinnati. But just like other commenters have said, the system is supposed to match the 2 best teams - looks like it did. In hindsight, I'm glad Cincy made it - otherwise, they would've whined and said that they could have won it all - just like UCF did. Funny thing - she blew up my text after UH beat Auburn. It took her 4 hours to respond to my texts following the 'Bama blowout. LOL She also hates the "SEC SEC" chant. Personally, I love it and have joined in at bowl games.
Y'all got hosed in the Memphis game. The punt return almost rivaled the Saints/Rams no-PI call.
I agree something needs to change - maybe an "injured" player sits out 2 plays. But I wonder why the announcers kept harping on the Rebels when State players did the same thing. Of course, there is no way to tell if it is legit, but a legit cramp or injury should keep you out for more than one play. It's not the perfect solution, but maybe a start?
