Aggie grew up Houston, med school in St.Louis, now retired Franklin, Tennessee. My dad, two brothers, & 3 sons went to A&M.

And I guess this means that if you beat the Tigers, then you can beat all the Tigers (which would TAKE SEVERAL YEARS)!!! This utter nonsense needs to go straight in the toilet, or would have been better written as satire. In fact, that was a hell of a missed opportunity.....
This is an issue? Bama beats GA, they're in, no argument. That loss to Texas was an early-year thing. Texas's schedule simply doesn't match up anyway. They won't look so good in the SEC.
Max could end up surprising everyone, and I hope he does. The pro level is a lot different, in many different ways. Look at what happened to the 2021 class. The guy has the guts; he has the mental ability.
Impossible to tell, at this point, what the deal was with Stoops. I have no doubt that they talked to him, but what would be more interesting would be to know who they did NOT talk to. Nevertheless, why would A&M be hot to hire someone who literally couldn't recruit Texas?? With Elko on board, they have that and almost certainly will hang onto Elijah Robinson. Elko also knows exactly what he's getting. It would also be interesting to see what he does with the OC. I think this is as good a hire as you would likely see. Going after another top-name coach was never likely, as most they were rumored about were in secure positions at great programs. Elko's been at good places, has done a good job at all of them, and knows Texas amongst other spots. The rapidity of this going down must surely mean it was all set up earlier. The Stoops thing came out of nowhere and went right back there. What'd this take? Like 12 hours??
The A&M business school is pretty good, and has nothing to do with athletics, although how do you think this "boosters" got all that $$$? LOL
This will be culture shock for tu. More money, less success. Also, other SEC schools are about to get an education in what it's like to sleep with a prima donna. Oklahoma is a class outfit. Texas is an entitlement organization. Their education, such as it will be, is on the way. Fireworks could be in the offing. Re: Arkansas.
What do you mean, "goofy"? All these college traditions are goofy! That's what makes them so great! College kids get to be nuts prior to entering the real world....sometimes I think that is what college is for....not celebrating Hamas, but branding BEVO or stealing a mascot. Growing up turns you into a drudge, living as such, then dying. Anyway, Kiffin has a darned good job if he keeps performing. Why mess with that?
I can now see why Mr. Campbell would be a choice. Still, a suscessful NFL coach would have to be absolutely nuts to go to the college level. I spoke with Jackie Sherrill years ago. The man had absolutely no free time, was obsessed with the degree programs at competing schools that made it hard for him to recruit in an even way. Dan Campbell is very smart Ag. Good for him.
If you want a cohesive, long-lasting program, this ain't the path to take.
Don't forget that there was a time when Miami was not a good program. The fact is that A&M has grown into something quite different from what it was, meaning enrollment, alumni, academics, money (don't forget money), and it already had traditions. The fact is, the plan was good and they made a mistake, hiring a guy who let them down. Organizing an enterprise like modern SEC football is a tricky proposition, and you need that special CEO to run it. It's basically a corporate enterprise. Money aside, your CEO fails or embarrasses you, you fire him. On paper that hire looked like a good deal (just don't give the guy a "trophy in waiting") so maybe the zealots will be a little more judicious this time around. All their other athletic programs have been handled well.
I think his estimation is not only incorrect, it is based on a past that no longer exists. Fisher walked into a program that has essentials that, literally, no one else can surpass, and he blew it. This university is something far beyond what it was in prior years. The alumni group, the enormous fan base, the recruiting profile.....no one, and I mean no one...has anything better. Admittedly, there is a lot wrong with the realm of college football these days, and I would be the first to say that. Ignoring all of that, A&M is far from the school that I went to back in the sixties, although the enthusiasm and tradition have surprisingly remained. I never imagined that happening as it has, but the fact is, there are a lot of incredibly wealthy and successful Aggies out there, and the enrollment for some time has surpassed UT. And they hate UT like Bama hates Auburn, or any of another similar rivalries. In this case it may be more intense, justified by the "big brother" downgrading serviced by Texas for so many years. Revenge is in the air, and the fact that UT is now fielding a good team makes it more urgent. I would go so far as to say that this Jimbo move by A&M was occasioned by UT as much as by anything else. A&M left the Big 12 BECAUSE of the University of Texas. Anyone else dealing with that outfit would understand, but with A&M it was more personal. It goes back to years of being put down, but now there's no down-putting. It's time to square up. It may sound nuts, it's not the generational dislike between Mizzou and Kansas....no one ever physically attacked the other....but this goes right up to the present, and if Jimbo didn't work out, out he goes. A&M will not be a "little brother" any more, and they weren't the last couple of decades, but they still wanted out from dealing with the school in Austin. Now they have to again. It's not your normal rivalry, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out. It will be interesting for the rest of the SEC as well, once they get to experience their new partner. There's no collegiality when it comes to the University of Texas.
Robinson is an elite recruiter. If he works out, they could keep him in place for a whole lot less money, and he'd be good at keeping the team together. Question is, however, would he even want that job permanently?
Well, we've got 'em whether or not. SEC members may find out the $$ isn't worth it, which A&M already had figured out. Nevertheless, as to site, flip a coin and be done with it.
The spontaneity of the present transfer portal must generate enormous pressure on these young people. I suspect a lot of those who access this system end up regretting it.
This is a stupid, inflammatory take on a coach's decision to stay where he is. No real analysis, no evidence, just conjecture. Disgracefull.
High likelihood Fisher fires him when he can get someone he really wants. The likely excuse will inevitably present itself.
What's the first thing you learn when you remodel your house? Is there anyone out there who doesn't know this??? When the guy asks you for all his money up front, what do you say?
It's ridiculous and it's sad. When you have the kind of personnel issues A&M has had this year, with all these young kids playing, would you not simplify the offense enough to avoid embarrassment and frustration? Or would you brag about changing nothing and expecting your youngsters to "execute"? I'm not sure hiring an OC will help....he'll still have Jimbo on his back. Nowadays, flexibility can often be the key to success. What we have here is the key to disaster. The key to backer support here will be what happens or doesn't happen vis a vis the transfer portal.
The 12th Man is the student body, not the coach. This one's working on being a bit further down the roster, at least for now.
Anonymity has its virtues. If anyone's overhyped, it would be Arch. Time will tell.
In my book, he's got til midway next year. The Aggies who put him in there will not be humiliated further than that, and they'll be willing & able to try to undo the damage.
I'm a doc and I'm shocked at what's on this list unless they're expected to be given to athletes temporarily not playing, as in rehab after an injury. Still, where do stimulants and "growth factors" enter into this, never mind anabolic agents. Also, a "documented medical history" could mean almost anything. None of this, of course, has anything to do with the issue in question, but it does have something to do with the issue of who's in charge at the NCAA.
If this goes on another year you can be sure the Ags that put Fisher in will want that egg wiped off their faces. I would say by next mid-season the maneuvering will be under way. It' all up to Fisher now.
It's a long drive going the other way too! Still, the college environment is much to be preferred. Going to the opponent's place is very SEC.
The only thing wrong about it was putting it online and invading some losers’ “safe spaces.”
King has been listening to Fisher for three years and I suspect a coach would latch onto that, especially one running what people say is a complicated offense. However, that doesn't necessarily translate onto field leadership and self confidence. It's possible Johnny Football would never have seen the field had Sherman stayed was coach. Putting a guy into a real game is how you proof the pudding. King may shape up, but is this Miami game the place to try to make that happen?
I watched the YouTube video and felt like I was back in school almost 60 years ago. It was refreshing in a way seeing a bunch of college kids acting like college kids instead of the things they’re into nowadays. On the other hand, it’s just as purposely stupid as it was the first time I experienced it. Denigrating the other team is just part of the fun, and no one takes it seriously. No one from the other school is there to be insulted. And they still tell those stupid “fables”, embarrassingly lame jokes that manage to never be obscene. To Hell with the internet! Everyone just gets pissed off, and the country is all divided.
The last thing A&M or anybody needs is this shyster and his 24 offices.
Wow! Now THAT hurt!! I have to say, though, that Megan is not excellent at anything of value.
