I have no beef with Ohio St. They are an extremely talented team. That said, the schedule is a complete joke. That also said, unless they were to change conferences there isn't a whole lot they can do about it. All 10 ranked SEC schools would be favored in 11 of the 12 games on that schedule with the exception of Mich St, and probably half the 10 would still be favored over Mich St despite them being #5.
Alabama flat out blew it, no other way to say it blowing a 21-6 lead. Outside of Alabama who was in the playoff, what does a bowl game really matter to an SEC team who expects to compete for a championship? Not what I just said is an excuse, and I expect it to be taken that way, but teams going up against SEC teams in bowl games have more to play for. They are in it to knock off the SEC, and the SEC team just doesn't come into that bowl game with the same intensity. They just don't. The Auburn and LSU bowl games were one possession games though, so it isn't like they were blowouts. LSU had an off year last year, and Auburn's defense was non-existent after a 7-1 start.
No way, an Alabama fan that thinks Auburn is doomed. First off, Auburn has a very good OL with Coleman, Kozan, Golson, Smith, and Young. 2nd off, for the sake of this discussion let's say Johnson can't run at all. In 2009, Gus' first year at Auburn as OC under Chizik, we had Chris Todd at QB. Chris Todd is the textbook definition of a QB who can't move or run and on top of that had very average arm strength. Auburn's offense set a number of school records that season (since been broken records but records none the less at the time). Even if he can't run, Jeremy Johnson can throw the dang football which is why plenty of sports media have him as a preseason heisman candidate. He as picked at SEC media days as the 2nd team QB behind Dak Prescott. He puts a guy like Chris Todd (no offense to Chris Todd) to shame is size and ability. And he has weapons to distribute the ball to. Bama fans need to worry about who their own QB is going to be. Oh, and since Bama's QB won't be mobile either I guess their offense is doomed too, right?
You can have the opinion that he can't run, but not based off the spring game where the QB is non-contact. Cam Newton and Nick Marshall didn't run during their spring games either.
Very valid point. No, he probably won't run very often, not by design anyway. He can though, and there will be times when it is called. Certainly possible in short yardage. Pull his high school film and you will see he is very capable. The offense should still be plenty successful, because while the QB may run less than (a lot less than) Cam or Nick, Johnson also shouldn't be compared with Chris Todd, Barrett Trotter or Clint Moseley. He is far more talented than those 3.
