But Manziel did sit a year... go on anyway. You're on a roll.
This article seems wrongly focused. Right now A&M is fielding a better than average team in both baseball and basketball, and I expect that the baseball squad will work out its pitching issues and move even deeper into the post-season than last year. But A&M has also done very well with Track and Field, Soccer, Women's Basketball, Softball and Equestrian sports. Football joins hockey (admittedly, a club sport) as one of the weaker programs of the athletics department. But the coaching changes should move the needle on the football field. Chavis made an impact coming out the gate last season, and if he can improve the run-defense, the result could be scary. Offensively Mazzone is a nice hire, but the real gem of the offensive staff is a very technically minded Jim Turner who is going to try and repeat his previous success with the A&M offensive line (think 2012 OL). So while A&M doesn't yet dominate dual sports, if the cards fall right, Baseball and Basketball could be the highlights of a very strong athletic department strengthened by a resurgent football program.
