News flash, water is wet and football players scuffle in the heat of camp; I'd be much more worried if I was a Tiger fan and everyone was singing Kumbaya.
That would be a terrible misuse of his skillset. I think KJ is 2nd best QB in the conference, but he has a very specific skill set. The offense must be tailored to him, kind of like Lamar Jackson.
My list was strictly related to the SEC QBs and how SDS ranked them, not the headline. I'd say the PAC 12 is top heavy at QB - they have the best QB in the country and a few more solid QBS - but, top to bottom, the SEC is far and away a better QB conference than the PAC 12.
I don't disagree, but did I miss something? I thought it was Tiered Rankings for SEC QBs, not NCAA.
Thanks for the insight, Bill, I really neve thought of it that way.
I understand that. The kid obviously has pedigree and potential, but that's mostly it - at the moment.
I qualified putting him in Tier 1 because he's on the best team, if that's how you want to rank it. Other than that, there's absolutely no way you can argue he's the 4th best QB in the league, other than you hope/feel he's that good. It's not like Kirby is a QB whisperer, I'd argue Kirby has been successful in spite of not having a QB live up to their 5 star ranking- things could get worse for the rest of the SEC if any of those QB's ever live up to their recruiting billing.
Fair question, 10th was probably too low, I'd probably pick 7 other QBs ahead of him, based on non-garbage time performance: 1. Rattler (highest ceiling) 2. Jefferson (must tailor an offense to his skill set) 3. Jayden Daniels 4. Will Rogers 5. Jaxon Dart 6. Joe Milton 7. AJ Swann
I didn't say Jayden Daniels was hot garbage - I think he's a hell of a QB - but I also think he has a better supporting cast than Rattler. IMO, I think Rattler is the best QB in the conference and any team would be objectively better with Rattler as their QB than their current QB, including my Vols and your Tigers.
Funny, I didn't say anything about Joe Milton, but if you want to compare the two, fine: Joe Milton had an objectively higher rating than Carson Beck in every statistical category in 2022, except for completion percentage. Anyway, I don't disagree with where Joe Milton is ranked and I don't disagree with Carson Beck being Tier 1 if they're giving him the nod for being on the best team, but he'd be 10th on list of QBs I pick to build my team around.
Hey, what do you know, we can both come together and agree that Memphis sucks! I'd to start a petition to give it to Arkansas! I stepdad is from Foley and has a small cabin in Fort Morgan that his family had forever - I spend about two weeks there every summer with my kids, they love it. Only thing that pains me is the thought that buying a fishing license and all the other money I spend could go to UofA; Oh well, I'll make a small sacrifice.
If you want to say Carson Beck is Tier 1 just because he's on the best team, then okay - otherwise, I don't know how you can rank him that high based on his limited sample size. Also, to put both KJ Jefferson AND Spencer Rattler behind Will Rogers is ergregious; I would even say they're both better than Jayden Daniels - he might not even be the best QB on his team.
@Donk No sir, no jealousy or envy here - I'm not guilty of that deadly sin. I'll take being a Vol and growing up in the Great Smoky Mountains all day over being a Bama fan. Fort Morgan is awesome, I spend time on the Bay every year, other than that, I'm very excited about the trajectory of all thing Vol related, definitely wouldn't trade places with a Bama fan.
Gump fans can piss off, but kudos to those kids for overcoming some major adversity this week - congrats, team.
@Donk If you’re saying I’m a hater, then, yes, I’m guilty as charged - I hate Bama with every fiber of my body. But jealousy? What on Earth is there to be jealous about as it relates to Bama athletics right now? Seriously.
Guarantee all the Nevada players played at private schools - such as Bishop Gorman - and probably aren’t Nevada natives.
Crazy world we live in when gwhite is defended by other fans - shows the severity of the $hit show in Tuscaloser.
It's sad the betting scandal is the most noble news to come out of Tuscaloser this school year.
"That long black cloud is comin' down...I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door" I almost feel sorry for Tide fans. Remember back when we could just argue about whether they were terrible because of Pete Golding or terrible because Saban had lost it?
Connor, this is the best article you've ever written - kudos. What a sad, sad state of affairs in Tuscaloser.
What a Banner(less) year for the Gumps!!! Seriously, outside of one terrible scandal (Penn St, Baylor, etc.) can you think of a school with a worse year in all three major men's sports?
Hey, Gump, are you done posting your stream of consciousness? Just know when we call Gumps "Gump," it is said with affection.
Uh oh, sounds like a bounty to me... Remember when Sean Payton and Greg Williams were suspended for BountyGate? Sounds like an investigation is forthcoming, really what Bama needs at the moment.
@The Standard This is why this site needs a "Like" button, fantastic description.
The Bammer AD got so mad at Saban/Oates that he fired the baseball coach!
At best, Bohannon unintentionally or innocently shared information with someone who then passed that information to bad actors. At worst, he knowingly had someone do that for him. Whatever it was, the administration thought it warranted immediate termination - the same administration that isn't exactly known for being strict on their coaches.
It has turned into performative art watching the Gumps justify all their misgivings, I can't wait to watch them spin this one.
Dude, the Gumps cannot get out of their own way this year: - Saban doing nothing after a player assaulted a woman on video - The entire B Miller fiasco - Now the baseball program involved in run shaving Hats off to the baseball coach, at least his actions weren't harmful to women.
