I don't think so. His only problem was being with a psycho gal. She initiated the confrontation and he restrained her. There was never physical evidence that he chocked her.
She went into a bedroom where he was reading and ripped his glasses off his head and broke them. She was going crazy and he probably restrained her. No evidence of choking. He is guilty of being with a psycho gal.
