State's honor code doesn't say anything about a penalty for breaking it. "As a Mississippi State University student, I will conduct myself with honor and integrity at all times. I will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor will I accept the actions of those who do." The punishment of the student is left up to the discretion of the honor council. Most of the time, the first offence results in an "XF" (0.00 GPA and the notation of cheating) on the student's transcript, and cannot be replaced using academic forgiveness (meaning it will always be reflected in the student's GPA). If the first offence was egregious enough or on a second offence, the student is expelled from the university. Also, refer to the down time between the crazy 2014 season and the less than stellar 2015 season where we lost a key wide receiver by the name of Fred Brown to nothing less than academic dismissal, a punishment given to him by the honor council after being found guilty of academic misconduct for a second time.
