In English football (soccer) this would be recognised as the "boot room" philosophy - based on the Liverpool FC policy of promoting from within (with a great deal of success).
Insane, as usual. If they MUST suspend players for buying pencils(!), then make them suspend, say 3 of them per game until the end of the season.
Classy from Fresno State. Better than when the classless Buffalo Bills ran a running play around the edge when the Redskins had 10 men on the field in tribute to the late Sean Taylor...
ESPN are just about increasing their own traffic and viewing figures. One of the easiest ways of achieving this is by being controversial and they're getting worse and worse for this kind of thing. Leaving Alabama out of the top 5 achieves this. Same as they continually dis'd Bama during the season. Simple as that.
NCAA rulebook says a fumble is " ...to lose player possession by any act other than passing, kicking or successful handing". The intention was to pass the ball - whether he knew exactly to whom he was passing it or not. So it wasn't a fumble.
B+ for the offense is generous. After the first third of the game, they were largely ineffectual - there were at least 4 consecutive 3-and-outs, either side of half time. As the game progressed, not for the first time, the O-Line were constantly pushed back on rushing plays and towards the end of the game, Henry's figures were going backwards as a result. Why Kiffin keeps calling 'up the gut' runs for Henry in these circumstances is a complete mystery.
