Maybe if they replaced the football with a laptop, Cam wouldn't have fumbled twice.
A laptop...lol...congrats sir...you win the internet today!
Maybe we'll win another equestrian NC and this will be valid.
arch*. Yeah I just became "that person", lol. Great letter though. Exactly my sentiments. I'd gladly offer up a spot at my tailgate to the original letter writer. He can join the other Auburn fans who were there and had a fantastic time! Go Dawgs!
You sir, are a gentleman, beatings or not!
There are multiple accounts of Georgia Tech players ripping up our field after a rare win in Athens but hoses have never been turned on them. I've also seen almost EVERY school that has come to Sanford Stadium and won, rip, tear, and even eat our hedges. No hoses to my recollection. I've even seen MANY teams pee in them...using a different kind of hose I guess...
Since we are all telling our stories...When I was a Redcoat at UGA in the early 2000s, my most memorable bad experience was in Columbia, SC. A SCar fan walked up to the front of our band, started spitting at the flagline and dancers and was yelling at the top of his lungs some of the filthiest things I've ever heard women be called. A UGA fan actually jumped 5-6 rows down their high school-type bleachers (the kind that are open in the corners) and beat him to a pulp. Both UGA and SCar fans applauded him as the offending SCar fan was escorted out of the stadium by police. I don't blame the school. I don't blame the fans. I don't blame the town. I blame the idiot who made the decision to say and do those things. This situation is no different to me. Also, since we are talking about spit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBz3PqA2Fmc
Exactly my thoughts...I'd expect a "War Damn Eagle" with either the high five or a fist bump. I wouldn't be saying "Go Dawgs" to piss anyone off...hell, in any neutral location I tend to gravitate towards anyone wearing ANY SEC gear (though I find it hardest when they are wearing Gator gear).
11 am??!! That's a late start in Athens!
I agree with you 100%. It happens everywhere (for the most part) and to single out one fan base is stupid. We all have our idiots. Thankfully there are great fans at each school to hopefully counter this mistreatment. We hosted a ton of AU fans this past week and their only complaint was the temperature! We opened our coolers, grills, and tents to them with open arms. I hope all visiting fans get to experience the good side as well. As for your Oregon comment, I can't say anything about them but if you haven't done so already, visit Missouri next time UT travels to Columbia, MO. I have never been treated so well as a traveling fan! It's almost sickening how nice they are!
I'm sorry folks, but if you have been to ANY SEC school (outside of Missouri...those fans are TOO damn nice!) as a visiting fan and not had a bad experience, you're either lying to yourself or extremely lucky. This stuff happens everywhere. I have had the worst fan experience of my life in Columbia, SC but I don't think all of the fans are that way or it's a problem with the city. I understand it's not something that an open letter to the fans can "fix." How do you "fix" this issue? Most of those obnoxious fans aren't even locals. Auburn has a beautiful campus and great fans, but yes...I've had bad experiences there too...even with a win! It's part of being a football fan...especially a fan of a team in the rabid fan bases in the SEC. I'm not saying it's ok to get spat on or have bottles thrown at you but it shouldn't be shocking!
“I think a lot of times we’re throwing the ball right now and it’s third down,” Wallace said. “It’s easy (for the defense) when you know its coming on third-and-9, third-and-long." Obviously this guy has never sat through a UGA game called by Mike Bobo. 3rd and 14...run it every time...they'll NEVER see it coming!
