You mentioned Lambert twice, and Hutson Mason nunce. The former, a grad transfer from UV, probably didn't benefit from Bobo's tutelage since he would've had to 'coach him up' from his office at Colorado State. The latter was a serviceable 'game manager' type that 'managed' a 68% completion percentage, ~2200 yards passing, and 21 TDs to 4 INTs. Oh, and led an offense that scored 41 ppg.
Pate isn't your typical talking head. There's no screaming, no hot taeks, no drama. He's dialed in on both the on-field and off-field game of college football. His responses to developments are measured, and he takes the time to explain his reasoning every time. He's also not an SEC homer, so he'd be a good resource for some of the more near-sighted folks around here. Absolutely worth a watch.
So what you're saying in effect is the 335 stack is the defensive equivalent to the Paul Johnson triple-option?
The Will Levis hype is folks considering him an NFL prospect, whereas Bennet gets more attention I think for his college play and perhaps his razor thin NFL prospects. The dynamic is not terribly far removed from the contrast/comparison of Matthew Stafford and Tim Tebow. One is a talented QB with an NFL skillset, the other has physical gifts that are leveraged well in the college game and intangibles off the scale.
For months after Indianapolis, all I heard was that Bama losing 2 receivers cost them a championship. If this was indeed the case, how could anyone *not* have better receivers than Alabama?
