I think this is a great move and I've been saying Bauta since the Spring game. I know it's a spring game but when Coach Richt says and I quote, "Faton is a preparation machine. He may be the hardest-working guy I've ever seen. He really cares about his team, his teammates and he really cares about making people better around him. Hes probably made the least amount of mistakes than anybody out there. He's been very good about having a good purpose every time he throws the ball and that's what I really appreciate about him." Now, some of you will say, well why wasn't he the starter? Good question, I would of loved to know that answer too. If you have a guy that doesn't turn the ball over, knows the offense well, the hardest worker, makes the least amount of mistakes, can scramble and runs a 4.54 40 yard dash, why not go with him. He could be a gamer, game changer, add more dynamic to the vanilla offense that we have. I could be wrong but why not give him a shot.
ASMF, ain't that the truth. Haters gonna hate, they are usually the ones who don't know crap about football and the game. I'm excited for the game but being pessimistic as a UGA fan due to the disappointment we've had for many years. Hopefully, we can pull it out but it will be a close game as usual between us. Good luck on your season as well!!
Best Wishes to Devon and the SU family. We don't see this kind of stuff in football anymore or maybe the media just doesn't publish it enough. Mark Richt has so much class and is a great man!! I always have loved Richt and he's brought so many great things to UGA. He cares about his players and other players first before winning. So many people want him fired bc he hasn't gotten to the big game yet but I don't know if I would want anyone else coaching our team. Even other coach's around the country were asked who they would want their kid to play for and all said, Mark Richt. I really hope he can get us there soon bc he deserves it more than anyone. Be careful what you wish for Dawg fans, look at what happened to Tennessee after they ran Fulmer out. Keep up the great work Mark and we are so thankful for what you do for our players and other players like Devon out there. Wishing you a full recovery!!!
Just wait and watch what UGA fans and the media are going to do if we lose this game.
RTR, they are a bunch of buffoons. Bama is still great as they have always been under Saban. You lose one game and everyone freaks out. I guess some of your fans, the media, and analysts have forgotten 3 National Championships and a couple of SEC Championships. You're constantly in the top 10, you win at least 10 or more games a year, you have the top recruiting class almost every year. These people are idiots.
Agreed, I guess he didn't watch last season and see how many carries Chubb had in starting only 8 games.
Murf, Fantastic on your articles once again!! You never disappoint and your work is greatly appreciated by every fan out there that reads them!! You made some really good points but as always I can't get too excited bc as you know being a Dawg fan can be disappointing at times. I'm tending to stay on the pessimistic side this week until they prove us and the nation wrong. I think our Defense will do good but we are still young and like Btuck said, if Saban just pounds the ball against us, we could be in for a long day. What are your thoughts on how we could stop that? I look back and remember the 2012 game and even the 2008 games which I was at and they just pounded the ball and wore us down even when we loaded the box. What are your thoughts on what Pruitt might do to limit that? Thanks for the great read again!
Then why would he come out and apologize if it wasn't his account?!?!?
Hahaha, yeah I do but I'm just happy with anyone who can help us win games and also the big games. I don't think he will transfer, he loves UGA and he knows he won't be playing in the NFL. I believe he's buying his time and getting a great education and also hoping he gets a NC ring as well. I think he will make a good coach one day if he pursues that career path. I can't wait until the 3rd too!!! Go Dawgs!!
Deacon, Ole Miss is going to destroy you. Your team was way overrated and your QB, "Mr. Preseason Heisman Candidate" is terrible and makes horrible decisions. Your defense is atrocious, you almost lost to Jacksonville State, to think your team will go 9-1 hahaha, keep dreaming.
Murf, my man! I was excited for what you were going to write up next and once again you did not disappoint, great article!! You know I was skeptical of Lambert and Ramsey before the season and wanted Faton bc of his mobility aspect brings something different to the game but you laid out why Lambert is the starter and great job in doing so. I know he didn't look good against Vandy but he is still learning the offense and I think he is starting to get more comfortable with it. You nailed it with Schotty though unleashing the passing game and doing so on the first drive of the game. Proved me wrong about his so called, "Vanilla Offensive Play Calling". I did think that he and Richt were waiting to open up the playbook and I also believe he still has yet to unleash more due to the Bama game coming up. Both him and Richt know what they are doing and they showed it against SC. I hope they can keep it up and do the same against the upcoming gauntlet they have with Bama, TN, Mizzou, Florida, Kentucky, and Auburn. Thanks again for the compelling information and breakdown, you da man Murf!!!
Brad, you are such a choch. You evidently do not understand the concepts and thinking behind what football coaches do. That could be a part of his plan to limit the other teams in seeing what our new offense looks like. That's called strategy Brad. That could explain the vanilla offense over the past two weeks against not so great opponents. But I forgot, you are a writer and you know everything, lol.
SeymourFan, you couldn't of said it better. Don't talk crap until your team beats a quality opponent and actually wins games. Same goes to UGA fans about winning the East and a NC. I'm one of those few that doesn't talk crap until my team proves me and everyone else wrong. I've been disappointed too many times. Tennessee should not of lost that game, the youth and inexperience lost you guys that game but I will say this, teams better watch out in the coming years because that young talent won't be young for long. In regards to UGA, after Saturday's game against Vandy, I think we might end up 8-4 or 7-5 this year, especially after our awful QB play and Schotty's horrible / vanilla play calling.
Murf, my man wonderful read and analysis once again!! They just keep getting better and better my friend!! Murray is sick and I can see why you would use him as a Braxton miller type of player, dude has serious skills and moves!! Miller's move with the spin was nasty, that was a good call by Urban to moving him to H-back but not every team is blessed with that many good QB's, lol. Great stuff though, keep it up my man. I hope you are doing well!! I also liked the piece you did on Schotty's offense the other day!
I think Murf Baldwin is the only one who proofreads his articles before publishing them, plus his articles are better.
Murf, my man, Excellent stuff once again bro!! I was worried with Lambert being named the starter but he did not disappoint to say the least. We will see once he goes up against the SEC defenses and tougher opponents. I'm still sticking with Bauta and that he would bring a different dynamic to the offense but Richt and Schotty know what they are doing. I was thoroughly impressed with how Keith played and was excited and glad with how our fans welcomed him back after his first play!! I love how Schotty is using our tight ends and I love how you showed that in the film study above! You never disappoint Murf and I can't wait to see what you draw up next! Have a good one brother and Go Dawgs!!
I agree with both of you on Kamara, he played well and was exciting to watch. SDS needs better writers like Murf Baldwin ,lol. Chubb did good but was splitting time with 3 other backs. He's not going to put up the same numbers this year because of the loaded backfield we have. Either way, the SEC has some dominant backs and all of them will be exciting to watch this year.
Alatide, better watch what you say about ULM. I believe your almighty RT lost to them years back at home under Saban, Arkansas lost to them at home as well, and I do believe Auburn almost lost to them in overtime at home.
Gravityboots, Sisters of the poor?!?!? I believe this is the same team that beat you guys a few years ago at home. I'm not saying Chubb did better than Henry but c'mon man, sisters of the poor, haha. I guess you and Arkansas are the only SEC teams to get beat by the sisters of the poor at home, lol. They almost beat Auburn too but lost in overtime a couple of years ago as well.
I guess we can expect an article next week on, "Best Socks and Cleats". Lol
Thanks for the uniform update BRAD, two thumbs up for the once again, boring article. Good Job!
Murf, man you keep reeling these fantastic articles out bro!! I've been waiting for this piece for a long time my man. I guess you were waiting to save the best for last, unless you have another one coming out before next Thursday. There are analyst out there that still don't give Chubb credit, i.e. Herbstreit who says Fournette and Elliott are better. I can't wait for Chubb's modest approach to show him that he is wrong, heck you did that here in this article. I'm not saying those guys aren't good but man Chubb is a beast. He has a 50 inch vertical I believe and he cleans like 380. He is the real deal and I don't think he has a piece of fat on his body. I'm so excited about next week, thanks Murf for the once again excellent analysis. You rock bro, I wish there were more like you out there!!!
Murf, outstanding once again with these articles!!! I could read these all day brother!! Those guys are absolutely sick and I sure do hope Pruitt does what you have outlined here in getting all of them on the field at once, could you say domination?!?!? Hopefully Pruitt's reading and taking notes lol. Jk, He knows what he's doing but you would be a great assistant / advice giver. Carter's speed is electrifying to say the least, he is going to be exciting to watch this year, plus having Jenkins and Floyd. I hope Floyd quits being lazy like he was last year, he under-performed in my opinion and lacked consistency. He too is amazing but he's lackadaisical If he wants a shot at a high round draft pick, he better step up his game. I can't wait to see what these guys do and then we have the younger talent that is learning from them, man bring on September!! Keep up the great work, Murf!!
Nice work again Murf!! Love the analysis you keep giving us!! I think you nailed it on personnel and weight. Those guys last year only had 1 year in his scheme, so I give them a little bit of a break when it comes to the mistakes outlined above. It will be interesting to see what he does with these guys this year. I think they will be more educated on his schemes and will do exactly what he is wanting. Plus, they are in better shape from what I've been reading than ever before. They are also very close and have been doing off-season workouts on their own and have been attending meetings together. I think that has lacked over the past few years is them playing together as a unit. Also, I think Richt and Pruitt have weeded out all the bad seeds and ones that weren't buying into what they were doing / selling. This group of guys seem different and I cannot wait until September!! I can't wait for next weeks round 2, keep up the great work Murf!!
Damn Good Dawg!! I wish more people like him did the same and speak publicly about this, to let others know that they aren't alone out there. Good luck Scullin in life and football!!
Ridic, Boise State is ranked but not Missouri. Notre Dame in the top 10 what a joke, LOL.
ABD, that is why we need to have Bauta as our starter. I know everyone keeps saying Ramsey but Bauta will make our offense even more diverse than it already is. I've been stating that since the spring. Faton is the hardest worker on the team, very accurate, knows the offense, could be a great game manager, which is all we really need and he is very mobile!! I wish he would be the starter but I'll be happy with whoever wins the job.
Love the analysis once again Murf!! Our TE's are sick and I cannot wait to see how Schotty uses them. We are going to be so dynamic / diverse on offense this season. I just can't wait to see who are QB will be that will throw to these guys!! Bring on September already!!
Murf, great job once again!!! Ragland is nasty and his speed / athleticism is what amazes me for being a linebacker!! He is going to be a nightmare for offenses this season. UGA and others that will face him better step up their game and figure out how to contain him. Nice work again Murf!!
Really Brad, Heisman frontrunner?!?!? The guy hasn't even played a full season and what are you basing that off of one game against Arkansas?!?!? Please, I understand he is a good player but to call him a Heisman frontrunner, where are you getting your prediction information from Brad? Just because Gus Malzahn runs a great offense doesn't mean he's the frontrunner. We will see after he plays some tougher competition in the SEC, whether he's worthy or not.
