Although his recruiting rankings aren't all that impressive, his offers list and stats say he is a baller... 1200+ receiving yards and 26 TDs, 4 INTs (2 returned) and a punt return TD... Congrats
I don't really see a problem with his comments. Bama seems a little "down" this year, at least compared to years past, but they r still ranked #2 going n2 the last week of the regular season, have the west locked up, and have only 1 loss. If that's not good enough for some of their fans then those people have some ridiculous expectations. And saying that Saban gave them those expectations so it's on him is.... Well I dunno what that is... Dumb?
I think it really depends on the opponent more than the location. Iread that someone threw Texas out there as a possible opponent. That would probably draw a big crowd...
Not tryin to troll Vol4Life but... Where u getting this #1 strength of schedule stat? I googled it a couple different ways, some with Tennessee in the search, some searching college football strength of schedule 2021... or something along those line. Most of the websites that came up didn't have Tennessee listed. I saw one site had us listed at #28, and one at #15... Everyone uses different metics to determine this but I don't know how scientific any of them are. There's no doubt that we played a tough schedule. Every team in the SEC plays a tough schedule. Did we play the toughest? I dunno about that. Are we heading in the right direction? Absolutely! If Heupel can get a bunch of good/great players that fit his system (and that's a big if right now), I have no doubt that Tennessee will start the pull ourselves out of the quagmire that we've been in for the past 15 years, and hopefully that will happen sooner than later. We will be playing Florida and LSU next year with new coaches, and we get Pitt again, this time without Pickett and breaking in a new QB at the beginning of the year. I think those could all be winnable games. Don't see us being able to beat Bama or Ga in 2022, but a 10 win regular season is definitely on the table. Go Vols!
Heupel has got Tennessee playing winning, competitive football with players he didn't recruit... and they are bought in. That in itself tells me he is doing a good job. As far as Hooker's "generational talent" I think it's just as likely that his play is they result of good coaching in a good system. I mean it's not like he was setting the world on fire at VA Tech... If/when Heupel has been here for a couple few years and has his players in we'll know more but all of the talk about how his success isn't sustainable doesn't make any sense. If it weren't sustainable then why is he having the success that he is having. I know they are it's and buts but if a couple plays go differently we could have had 2 more wins this year as we lost to Ole Miss and Pitt by 1 score and had opportunities to win or at least tie it up at the end of both of those games but we were unfortunately not able to. As it is I am happy with our new hire and excited to see where we are at in the years to come.
It's wide splits and tempo, and unless we r facing an elite front 7 or a stacked box, a running game that sucks in the safeties, and then up top for the long ball... Not really all that complicated or gimicky really...
Thanks for caring so much about Hooker I'm sure he really appreciates that.
And u passed the test with flying colors
Wouldn't second place in the east be a moral victory or am I missing something?
So ur saying... Let me get this straight... Ur saying that LaterGator is TruVol/TruDawg?
Hooker has had some great outings recently so I guess I meant comparitivley speaking
Congrats Dawgs. well played u guys r legit. i'd hoped the Vols woulda put up a better fight than that, especially after the first quarter. i still think we r heading in the right direction, but we r obviously not ready to hang with the Dawgs and Bamas of the world just yet. Hooker had a rare bad game, and the Dawgs D had a lot to do with that. You don't usually see him missing open receivers like he did on multiple occasions tonight tho. I didn't see the Vols quit, although they were thoroughly outplayed after that first quarter and a third. Both GAs lines are stout. i don't see any other team in the country, inckuding Bama, that can knock them off. this should finally be your year..
Wow. You're like... A prophet... So u predicted GA to lose last year?
Yeah actually not as close as the score made it look CrankE
Came a lot closer than y'all did with MSSt
You kinda walked right into that one Brokeback
But the other article said that he upset his former teammates with his victory cigar... So which is it SDS?? Congrats, Bama on the win...
Those 3 chunk plays are a part of what Heupel's offense does. After losing all that talent and Sark to TX no one should fault them for taking a short step back. Heupel seems to have us heading in the right direction and with a mash unit of transfers and former walk ons the Vols hung pretty tough with Bama for 3+ quarters before Bama's superior talent and depth helped them pull away at the end. That said, and assuming you watched the game, that score doesn't really indicate how competitive this game really was. Congrats on the win....
Sooo.... Which Tennessee fans exactly? Care to expound? What a stupid click bate article. And not only did I click on it, I am probably making it worse by commenting. Oh well congrats to Bama on a game well played. Tennessee seems to have a good coach and if we fans give him some time to get his roster thicker I think we could possibly, hopefully, maybe start to emerge from this nightmare that has been Tennessee fandom for the past decade plus... Go Vols
That did look bad. Glad he is good to go and agree that we should put our best players out there it would def send the wrong message to sit our starters...
Oops... Typing while watching after my Dad who has dementia = poor grammar
Good post Fuzzy. I think it's also relevant to point out that even tho the Vols have the longest current losing streak vs Bama, we are also the only east team to play them every year. Thus, a lot of these other streaks either started before Saban came in when Bama was playing a different brand of football. Most of these east teams have probably only played Saban a handful of times. The Arky and Miss St streaks are similar to Vols as for west teams that also have to play them every year.... LSU, Auburn, A&M (one recent and one back in the Johnny Football year and Ole Miss when they won a couple with Freeze are the only teams that regularly play Bama that have won more than once or twice (With Auburn being having the best record against Saban).... So Bama has been doing this to just about every one they play since Saban has been their coach....
Yeah how many years in a row now has this article appeared. Yes it is still a rivalry. That's the thing about college football, these rivalries go back decades, over a xenturtly for some of them. If you choose not to see it as such then that is your perogative. I doubt most of the current players see it as such but a lot of the fans that have been going to these games for decades certainly still see it this way... It's up to Tennessee to make it competitive again. I think they are on the right path, although it's not gonna happen this year and probably not next year either....
Well jeez if Lane's not pissed about it and he got hit with a golf ball... lol... No excuse for that BS tho Classy move by Lane tho. He sure has growed up since he left us in the middle of the night...
