On the front end, I realize we are getting the Cal “Brand” first & foremost…I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in Muss, he had one bad season & then runs away. Muss was a good coach, but TOO QUIRKY for me (taking the shirt off, etc.) Cal is class. Is he arrogant? Yes, but in a cool way...Will he bring in players? (of which we (Ark) currently has ZERO)..Yes, he will but what a lot of folks are missing is this: The expectations for Cal will be so much LOWER at Ark (compared to KY)….Arky wants to be competitive, be ranked (somewhere) & make the tournament each year…if Cal delivers this (I am thinking he will during year 1), Arky will build a STATUE in his honor on campus. This is not brain surgery folk, Cal is a total UPGRADE over Muss & he will deliver in the short term very soon….it is NOT out of the realm of possibilities that Cal will eventually coach-up a future Final 4 team, so that will only enhance what Cal brings to Arkansas…as others have mentioned, it is a Win-Win for both programs, now IF we could only get the same thing in football….

albeit a stupid Razorback fan there, who is the BLUEHELL will Arkansas get as a better coach than Muss....this year, it was the players-not Muss.
Who Cares...he cannot stay healthy which is why he will NEVER amount to anything...Next.
I quit caring after the aTm game LAST YEAR....since KJ fumbled right before the half & provided a 14 swing in a losing effort, Arkansas has NOT been the same under Pittman...tired of the excuses, the "I don't knows" & poor coaching across the board. In year 4 the Arkansas Football has digressed significantly to the point, I don't care, I don't watch, I don't go to games. When the U of A actually spends some $ and hires an experienced head coach who wants to be at Arkansas, I will begin to care again. Sam Pittman is a great guy, have yet to find anyone who dislikes him & he truly wants to be at Arkansas....the problem is that he is in over his head & is unable to fix the problems he has now. Sam has tried, done his best, but I am done with Arkansas Football until someone is hired who can win games.....not talking about an SEC Championship, no playoff spot, just a coach who will field a competitive team each year, win the games he is supposed to, have a winning record & reward the team with a bowl appearance each year...all of which Arkansas is capable of with the right leadership.
Sheeyeah, right-He didn't want to play at all this year & the few times he ran the ball, he was timid....he believed the hype of how great he is & decided to "Wait & Get Healthy" so he can either go to the draft or hit the TP. I would take his jersey & tell him to go talk to his agent.
Rocket Sanders isn’t coming back….he didn’t want to play earlier when it mattered, why would he want to now when it doesn’t matter…?
I am pretty sure Arkansas has NEVER won in The Swamp…and we won’t this Saturday. I do think we are better than our record shows, but we don’t know how to close game out-we don’t know how to win. We may beat the cupcake team on our schedule coming up, but that’s it…if we couldn’t beat Miss St. on our home field, doubt we will beat Auburn or Mizzou…unfortunately, it's time to start over, because while we all like Sam, I don’t want a coach who admits he doesn’t know what to do during game situations….knowing IF you are going to kick a field goal or take a time out, isn’t that big of a deal, yet he managed to screw that up-which is a small screw up compared to bring back Dan Enos, who completely wrecked our offense.
What Sam means is that the U of A is THE only team in the Power 5. Arkansas State University (in Jonesboro, AR) is in the Sunbelt Conference & in the past could have probably beaten us in football, however right now-they hired Butch Jones, so you can imagine they are just as bad as we are now. Like everyone else, I love the guy-but he is in over his head as a head coach as he, himself indicated, "I didn't know what to do"...coming from a head coach of a Power 5 Team in his FOURTH YEAR of coaching. I am ready to move on as I see us only getting marginally better than we the past couple of years.....it's gonna take a VETERAN HC to come in and want to be here (like Pittman does) but know exactly what to do....there may be a young guy out there who is willing, but ARKY is a tough place to recruit & win in...Petrino demonstrated it could be done, but we all know how that ended.
Nope....goes all the way back to aTm last year, about to go up 21 points at the half, but KJ tried to do something he couldn't and the team has NOT been the same since....now we are watching Bert's team do the same things...have a lead, can't close a game & lose...Pittman was a part of that era too. Unlike a lot of programs, Arky simply wants a coach who will win the games we are supposed to...pull an upset on occasion & go to a decent bowl game each year...8-4, 9-3 season would get some coach a statue built...but thus far, Petrino is as close as we have come & given the current state of college football now, I would welcome that scum-bag back with open arms....
Watch Arkansas go from Bad to Worse in the coming weeks...we can't block/tackle much less limit big plays from Kent St or BYU, so why Pittman thinks he can against Ole Miss is beyond me. This game is going to be ugly and then next week, we go to Tuscaloosa.
Arkansas to a bowl game this year?....Sheeeyeah, right!
woopig94....totally agree, we have regressed the past two years & from what I can tell it is coaching...going forward it will be because of coaching & now injuries. Pittman says the same thing week after week but nothing changes, He is in over his head. I see one, maybe two wins left on our schedule...no bowl game, just a below average team whose personnel is far better than the CM years yet we can hold a lead, close out games or even win a close game. Bert was fired for having the same kind of team but apparently this is who we are...We are only as good as our record says we are...last year we were an average .500 team, now we are a below average team which also REFLECTS Pittman's coach record by the end of this year.
4 years in we ought to show signs of improvement, but we are regressing...we don't know how to win football games...today, we didn't look as though we knew how to block, run or tackle. I really thought Sam was the guy to turn this around, but not anymore. Everyone loves him, but now I think his lack of head coaching experience is becoming more evident. A great recruiter, but a mediocre head coach at best. You are only as good as your record says you are.
I've seen this movie too many times already: Arkansas will go up in the first quarter, then by half-time the game will be pretty even. By the end of the 3rd quarter & after 12 penalties plus a couple of turnovers, Arky will be behind-but after tying the game in the 4th quarter-Arky will do something DUMB (Coaching, fumble-your choice) and Arky will LOSE again, by a touchdown or less and in the mean time, ARKY will make this back-up quarterback look like he should have been the starter from Day 1. We can't hold a lead, we can't play a clean game, our "Best" player never sees the field, we can't win close games....we DO NOT KNOW how to win football games. Period. Every year-it's the same thing over.....Tell me when I'm lying.

Saw someone post, "Hogs by 10"....Shuuuuyeah-Right! I've seen this movie too many times already: Arkansas will go up in the first quarter, then by half-time the game will be pretty even. "Blah...Blah....Blah", yada yada yada beginning to lose faith in Sam..not over 1 game, but a pattern of blowing big leads in games & the constant UNDISCIPLINED behavior which results in penalties. I get it that Pittman is a, 'Player's Coach' but at some point he needs to be a hardass & quit tolerating poor efforts...EVERY time we get a lead, our players quit thinking we have won the game already...Rocket is following in the steps of Catalon, huge press but rarely sees the field...so far, Sam has shown little in actually changing behaviors/attitudes at Arkansas...my expectations now are 4-8 instead of 8-4.

Happens just about every year-we get a great RB and during his season to shine, they go down with injuries never to be heard from again: Rawleigh Williams, Madre Hill, Jonathon Taylor, Peyton Hillis, Rakeem Boyd, Knile Davis....the only 2 notable backs who stayed relatively healthy was Alex Collins & Darren McFadden.
Glad to see us WIN a game handily when we are suppose to (see Miss. St. & Liberty last year), so improvement there...I know we had a starting guard out, but the running game MUST improve...a couple of more games to get it right...WPS!
WPS!...wasn't always pretty, but better than Liberty...will take a W everytime.
Tragic news that another former Razorback has passed well before their time. I saw both Ryan Mallett & Alex Collins play for the Razorbacks-they were great both on & off the field. Alex was the recruit whose mother would NOT sign off for him to go to Arkansas because she wanted him to stay home & play college ball in FL, so he got his dad to sign because he wanted to be in Fayetteville as a Razorback. God Bless his friends/family. RIP Alex Collins.
so you had to turn to personal insults since you lack the capacity to refute my words/logic with your own..? I never argue with a fool as onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.
2 Observations from an Arkansas fan: 1-Arkansas lost their 'mojo' when they blew a 10-2 lead in the second game of the Vandy series from that point, went DOWNHILL the rest of the year-sorta like last year when we were crushing aTm in football & suddenly gave up a big play right before the half....Arkansas football never recovered. 2-Both of these incidents show a pattern demonstrating Arkansas does NOT know HOW TO WIN. We are competitive, we have great coaching but unless it is Track & Field, Arkansas CHOKES EVERY TIME we need to win game, kick a field goal or catch a foul ball (which would have given us an NCAA Championship in baseball a few seasons back).
Typical Arkansas game....they put themselves into position to win it all, then BLOW IT....dropping a fly ball to lose the CWS & yesterday, they had the game in hand, but managed to blow it in the end. Arkansas is & has always been: "Woulda, Coulda & Shoulda" in almost every sport we play (aside from Track/Field)....so disappointed my HOGS do NOT know how to win when it counts.
While I would love to disagree....I can't. Coach Pittman is beloved by all who know him...so why did almost HALF the team leave from last year? Because we sucked for so many years, many ARK fans want moral victories...which DO NOT EXIST in the SEC FOOTBALL CONFERENCE. I hope we are competitive (which Coach Pittman has proven to be)...the year before, we got some breaks-last year-not so much. While a mediocre team is BETTER than the Chad Morris years, I think Pittman aspires to be more-I pray we can. Recruiting at ARK is difficult for any coach as Pittman is seeing, yet we are on track to be better, but winning games is the bottom line, which we did a piss-poor job of last year. We had a really good team who UNDERACHIEVED, so the bottom line is we are marginal at best until we prove otherwise, which I hope we can in in the fall of 2023.
I think Muss is a great coach too-glad we have him, HOWEVER until we start hanging banners for the Championships we have won....it is still a whole lotta: "Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda..." There are NO moral victories when playing in THE best conference in the NCAA. I am proud that Ark is in the SEC & are usually competitive most of time in the major sports...we have OWNED 'Track & Field' forever, but until we win a championship again in basketball, or finally win the big one in Omaha....Razorbacks fans should keep our mouths shut.
As an Arkansas fan, I am embarrassed by this behavior & it clearly demonstrates our coaching staff to be poor losers....one would think as much as we have NOT lived up to the hype & as often as we have LOST many games this year (which we should have won) our coaching staff would be used to it by now. There is no excuse for these actions. Pointing out problems w/other teams is NEVER an excuse to make yourself, your team or your coach feel better.
