Yeah, Cam Newton and Nick Marshall were complete busts. And Sean White's pass efficiency being equal to Chad Kelly's, Jalen Hurts', and Austin Allen's is further evidence that Malzahn doesn't know how to develp QBs.
The Iron Bowl was played on a Friday several years ago. Many folks, on both sides, had to work and couldn't attend the game. Both teams vowed to never do it again. Friday football is bad, especially the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Easy. Draw a line through the SEC Offices in Birmingham that runs north and south. To the east of that line rests Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, and Vanderbilt. To the west of that line rests Alabama, Mississippi State, LSU, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.
Saban's salary equates to 4.63% of the program's revenue. To put into perspective just how overboard that is, consider the CEO of Apple. Last year he made $10.3 million. If he had been paid the same percentage as Saban, his salary would have been $10.7 billion. In other words, Saban is paid over a 1000 times more than the CEO of a Fortune 5 company based on revenue. These coaches are horrendously overpaid and it will end up killing college football as player suits against the NCAA continue. (Picking on Saban because the numbers were readily available here. The same is true for all of them.)
Alabama lost one regular season game last year. Since they are "trending upward", even though they don't know who their QB is going to be and lost the best WR in college football, is that a prediction for an undefeated regular season this year? Auburn lost 4 regular season games last year. Since they are "running in place" with a quality QB, the return of an All-American Defensive Lineman and the addition of one of the best Defensive Coordinators in football, is that a prediction that Auburn will again lose 4 games? Gutsy calls on both counts.
We're still trying to understand the NCAA's reasoning here. The young man enrolled early at tOSU, never even donned a uniform, and was told he could not play football there. Why must he sit out a year under the transfer rules?
No.... Jeremy Johnson has played in 11 games and was the starter in two, including the Arkansas game. His stats are virtually identical in all games with an average ADJ QBR of 95+, and a pass completion rate of about 75%. Compare that to Mauk with a career ADJ QBR of about 70 and a pass completion rate of about 53%. Mauk may be a gamer and a winner, but his numbers don't support a favorable comparison against some of the others. I'll gladly eat crow if Mizzou earns another trip to Atlanta.
I don't necessarily disagree with the top 3. But..... who will be throwing the ball to Treadwell and Cooper? I know who will be throwing to Williams and the combination has the potential to have an epic passing season. Like the author pointed out, the QBs will likely determine the final order here.
You would almost have to put Sullivan/Beasley together. Neither would have been as successful without the other. Also, the only retired numbers at Auburn are 7 (Sullivan), 88 (Beasley), and 34 (Bo).
Can't deny that UGA's had our number for quite a while. Bama's the bigger rivalry, but UGA is usually the tougher game. Also, Auburn will NOT overlook UK. Malzahn was at Auburn for the last UK game that was decided by a FG as the clock ran out. It took some Cam Newton heroics to win that game, and he won't be dressed fore this one.
