Good comments. It was just bizarro how many fans said we needed to stick with Dooley no matter what. After all, he was the coach. He deserved our loyalty. So don't expect much from the fan base.
This article doesn't say it but other venues have quoted Currie as saying Jones was on the right trajectory. I am not sure how losing to USCe and Vandy make that a valid interpretation and not just something you would expect to hear from Mike Hamilton. It is impossible to be optimistic about Volunteer football. it is clear that the Administration values fund raising over athletic success.
Let me guess - Johnny Majors detests Philip Fulmer.
Fulmer might be a bit long in the tooth, but he would still be a great hire. He has been immersed in college football since he was 18 YO. And who better to cast a gimlet eye on Butch Jones than the great Pumpkin Himself? I like Coach Fulmer a lot. He is a Tennessee man and he needs to have this job.
Hello? If ya'll don't remember, Kiffin took the UT job just as various scandals were about to burst forth at USC and force Carroll out. The villain here is the AD Hamilton who: 1) hired Kiffin at all in that state of circumstances, and 2) had a minsicule buyout clause if he left early. No, no, no. We don't need amoral bum Kiffin back in Knoxville.
Hello? Kiffin made a hash of his hire at USC. They had fights in the locker room. We don't need that bum on the Hill.
Hopefully people will remember what Kiffin did for the Vols. He took a job at UT hoping and praying that he could get back to USC the next year. That is the duck and that is the way it quacks, and that is the way it walks. And that is what happened. We had Tyler Bray for a QB instead of Tadj Boyd. “Boyd finished his career with school records and conference records for passing yards with 11,904 and passing touchdowns with 107. He is currently the all time leader in both of those categories.” -wiki Any Vol fan who wants Lane Kiffin at UT again apparently doesn’t do very well functioning as an adult. We don’t need an amoral creep on the Hill.
You excuse reasons that should totally disqualify Kiffin from employment as a head coach ANYWHERE.
WHY ON EARTH do people want Kiffin back in K-town. Think, people, think! He is am amoral creep.

Like General Patton said, "Show me a good loser, and I will show you a loser." Walt UT '81
It seems Hurd was a big time locker room distraction this year. he seems to be leaving. So we'll see how they do against TT. Either really bad or really good.
That OC's name was Clawsen, I think. He was a bad hire and didn't help Fulmer at all. Too fancy shmancy.
In the Bammer/TAMU game yesterday the CBS guys both couldn't figure why it wasn't targeting on that player - I think his name was Noil. Soon they heard from the SEC officials - Noil wasn't a defenseless player so it wasn't targeting. CBS to their credit quickly had the rules on the screen. And what the SEC officials said was false. "1) No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul. This specifies a hit with the top of the helmet, but not necessarily a hit to the opponent’s helmet. The next item in the rulebook, including the aforementioned "Note 1," which explains the many additional situations in which all kinds of hits are considered targeting: No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI) Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball..." Okay, in both the UT game where Evan Berry was hit crown to crown by a Bammer player and the TAMU game where this TAMU player was blatantly hit helmet to helmet, clear targeting under the rule wasn't called. The SEC office went out of its way (I am assuming they know the rules) to misrepresent the rules, which is pretty crappy.

Better than ask when in the game this happened, ask if he had any risk factors in his life; obesity, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol to excess? Walt UT '81
Stripes with plaid? I don't get it. His main audience is the players and it won't hurt to say it is going to be tough. Walt
Chubb was an awesome back because he was always spinning and fighting and striving for more yardage. That finally bit him in the ass. He won't be the same. That seems certain. Walt UT '81
UGA is a trap game for the Vols. Beat UF, it's a trap game. Lose to UF and it is still a trap game. But UGA will have 'first year coach' dysfunction, Chubb and Michel neither did a full off-season conditioning, the QB situation is up in the air and so on. Lot of questions for UGA. UT is tuning up for a good year. Walt UT '81
"You mean that same offensive production that choked against Florida?" Not rational but not a surprise. Walt UT '81
Or........ 5 reasons the Titanic is not really sinking. That is not true of UGA but these articles manufactured from nothing to fill column inches are pretty tiresome. I know you have to write -something- but gee whiz. Walt UT '81
Saban always has a choice based on, you know, a fairly substantial resume. Walt UT '81
"Tennessee ran for 2,908 yards last season, third in the SEC and just shy of the program-record 3,068 set in 1951. That’s a target for 2016." Wow, who knew? In 1951 even with the bowl game they only played 11 games. Wow. Walt UT '81
If you don't look too closely, the VT unis have sort of a 'brick by brick' vibe. Especially the letters on the helmet. Walt
Hell yeah, I am glad UT is sticking with the traditional look. Walt UT '81
Let's hope we get a 'Bull Durham' bravo performance and not a 'Waterworld' fiasco from the team. Walt UT '81
