Easy now, scoreboard gives you football and basketball but whiskey? I take offense to that…and when it comes to music let’s not forget Childers
From what is being reported in KY, there is only one witness that has stated a gun was pulled and the other people in attendance have not corroborated that a gun was pulled. I believe this is what stoops is referring to when referencing the other side of the story.
Bamatime, average would be a team that is .500. I don’t have to explain why that’s true do I? Since 2007 Mich St has won almost 70% of their games. .700 > .500 (you do understand what the > means, right)?) and only had two seasons below .500 so Mich St is not a below average team that merely experiences a flash in he pan. On the contrary, they are typically an above average team that occasionally has a down year
It does counter what SG said. SG said Mich St is a below average teams. Below average teams don’t make the CFP, Mich St made the CFP, hence countered.
Think the counter is that Mich St has made the CFP, seems like a great compliment for UK to be compared to a team that has done that (in the context of UK football history/expectations).
You make a good point that all programs are developing talent. However, I think it’s clear some coaches are better at it than others. I think the key when evaluating stoops is the fact they have yet to regress in wins per season. This lends itself to the reasonable belief that last year was not an anomaly and that stoops and co. is probably better than the average SEC coaching staff when it comes to evaluation and development. Not saying UK will have a 10+ season, but do think that Stoops has created a program that will consistently win 7-9 games per year with a 10+ win season every 4-5 years.
Don’t think any of us posters know whether the job was or was not actually offered. Just both sides playing the pr game
Amiss means not quite right. Remiss means negligently. I have to agree with the other poster that “remiss” seems more appropriate than “amiss.”
No doubt this is an arrogant statement, but Allen has been relatively humble and has a great story about struggles as a child and being a no name 2 star recruit so I’d cut him some slack.
I know, typically I ignore his posts but bored at work.
HUGE CONTRACT is all relative. Are we paying Stoops more than we have any other football coach? Yes. Is Stoops winning more than any other UK coach in modern history? Yes. Simple economics. Also, disagree that we will ever see a UK team that can compete with this one. I think we will again surprise some people next year. I think Rose is a good back, we will have some experienced pieces on the O-line. On D, the fact that we have such a strong senior class this year means that we have been able to redshirt and develop younger guys for the first time since Brooks was around.
We don't have one and I don't think anyone has suggested that we do. Doesn't mean we aren't a good team.
I agree wholeheartedly with Kash. These seniors deserved better. Blaming it UK's performance against UT is just an excuse. UK fans want to pretend we are an SEC school and that we love football when in reality that's just not the case. Also, season ticket holders complaining about Mitch and prices should research cost of tickets at other SEC venues.
Tennessee Martin? Didn't know we played them, but if we won I'll take it. To address the your question, is Kentucky the typical 8-3 team, I'll say yes. 8-3 teams are typically good teams, but not great teams. I think it's fair to say that UK is a good team that has some clear deficiencies, primarily being that UK still doesn't quite have SEC caliber talent/depth.
Another aspect to Allen's game is his ability to drop in coverage and play in space. I believe it was the Miss St. game where he dropped in coverage and made a nice pass break up at the goal line, about 20 yards from the LOS. Also, his already impressive sack number would likely be higher if they rushed him more. But understand the coaches using him to rush/drop in coverage to keep offenses off balance and guessing.
Derrick Henry 2013: 382 yards on 36 attempts for 10.6 ypc 2014: 990 yards on 172 attempts for 5.8 ypc 2015: 2219 yards on 395 attempts for 5.6 ypc Total 3591 yards on 603 attempts for 5.9 ypc Benny Snell: 2016: 1091 yards on 186 attempts for 5.9 ypc 2017: 1333 yards on 262 attempts for 5.1 ypc. So, if Benny does this year what he averaged the first two years his total would look like 3636 total yards...I'm not too good at math but I think thats more total yards than D. Henry. Not saying that Benny is better, because he is not, but he is a great running back that is clearly better than average. Benny Snell 2016:
Agreed that we are overhyped. Very similar to the pre-season hype S. Car. got.
paris10, you do understand how football works, right? Damien Harris higher ypc is largely a product of the other players around him. He has one of the best o-lines, quarterbacks, and wide receivers around him in all of the ncaa. The fact that he has a higher ypc does not mean he is necessarily the better back on an individual level. If you put Snell on Alabama's team, with all the talent Alabama has around the RB position, I would expect Snell's ypc to increase rather significantly. Also, if you gave Harris 120 more carries, his ypc would likely decrease significantly. Teams would start packing the box against him, likely reducing his ypc. Whereas in Snell's case, he doesn't have the talent around him, so he is asked to carry more of the load, allowing teams to really focus on stopping the run. However, despite SEC teams loading the box, Snell consistently moves the football. All in all, I think its fair to say that Snell is a top 3 SEC back and that if he were on a team with the talent of a UGA, Ala, Auburn, etc. his stats would be even better than they already are.
Once again I fell into the Crist click bait trap. Crist is a poor writer and SDS deserves better. The body structure of his articles are often incoherent, while his sentence structure and vocabulary seems forced (like he is trying really hard but just lacks the talent needed to be a good writer). Oh, but he has voted on the heisman for the better part of a decade (no one cares, John). Also, I think Crist is secretly aware of how inept he is as a traditional writer/journalist so he focuses his articles on getting a rise from readers and then stokes the fire by commenting on his own articles. This allows his articles to get the needed clicks/reads and is probably the only reason Crist hasn't been let go from SDS. Really is just clickbait, and SDS should be above this.
