From a sports and revenue standpoint it’s a goldmine of a decision. But the top dogs in this league have always been team players. No other conference can say that. The rest of them all cater to their bellckws. It makes conference decisions questionable and makes spoiled afraid of competition blue bloods. Texas and Oklahoma have both had total control over every league they’ve been in. That attitude has also killed every league they’ve been in. There not collaborative and culturally not a good fit. It’ll be really interesting if problems arise.
This is my take. I could be wrong. The SEC was always unique over the other conferences because it’s top dogs were more collaborative with their conference mates. Every other league has always catered to its top teams. Oklahoma and Texas have never been good partners with their leagues. They’ve never had to. The Alabamas and Floridas have never been afraid of competing and have never run roughshod over there league members. That’s what will be fascinating to watch. From a football and revenue standpoint it would be a grand slam. But how will it change the dynamics of the collaborative SEC model.
