Anthony Richardson committed to having a future at Florida before he knew who would succeed Dan Mullen as the next full-time head coach. Now that the Gators have hired Billy Napier, Richardson appears to be doubling down on staying at the program.

On Tuesday, Richardson tweeted a quote that should have excited Florida fans:

For those who may not know, that quote was something that Napier said earlier this season that became a signature moment of his time at Louisiana.

On Sept. 16, the Ragin’ Cajuns had a 7-point lead late in the first half in a home matchup against Ohio. They had the ball at the Bobcats’ 1-yard line, and instead of kicking a field goal, Louisiana went for the touchdown and was successful, taking a 21-7 lead into the half. The Ragin’ Cajuns went on to win, 49-14.

During his halftime interview, Napier dropped that quote:

So it seems that Richardson is committed to playing for Napier and sticking at Florida to continue his college career. Richardson was a redshirt freshman this past season, but he mostly served as the backup to Emory Jones.

Now, Richardson could get an opportunity to be the first starting QB of the Napier era.
