Rumors began swirling on Saturday morning that Florida coach Jim McElwain’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, was working on a buyout with the school.

With how much drama has surrounded McElwain this season alone, it was a believable rumor and it might be accurate to say that McElwain is thin ice.

However, later on Saturday, Florida AD Scott Stricklin released a statement saying no one within the athletic department had been in talks regarding a buyout:

At 3-3 on the season, the Gators host rival Georgia on Saturday afternoon, looking to avoid falling below .500.

It’ll be a tough task for the struggling Florida offense, and one that may be even more difficult in the wake of the swirling rumors.

However, for now, it appears McElwain is safe, so it’ll be interesting to see what is said about the embattled coach over the next week.
