Former Florida LB Diwun Black is headed to Temple to continue his college football career. Black announced his commitment to the Owls Saturday on his Twitter account.

Black made his commitment after visiting the program in Philadelphia.

Black isn’t the only member of the Owls with Florida ties. Owls head coach Stan Drayton worked alongside Dan Mullen on Urban Meyer’s UF staff from 2005-07. Jules Montinar is the current cornerbacks coach on Drayton’s Temple staff. Montinar held the same position at Florida in 2021.

Black was originally part of Florida’s 2019 recruiting class but landed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. After going JUCO for 2 years, Black signed in Florida’s 2021 recruiting class and joined the Gators that season.

Black played in 10 games for the Gators in 2021, recording 4 tackles. In 2022, he made just 3 appearances, logging 3 tackles. Billy Napier dismissed Black from the team in November.

Florida listed Black as a junior for both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, applying the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver to his eligibility. By playing in only 4 games, he can take a redshirt for 2022.
