Kliff Kingsbury delivers hilarious deadpan comparison to Urban Meyer
Kliff Kingsbury and Urban Meyer have some similarities in their coaching careers, especially how they got to the NFL.
For starters, there are parallels between the 2019 Cardinals and 2021 Jaguars, because they are each first-time NFL coaches and have No. 1 overall picks as quarterbacks.
However, the one distinction is when Kingsbury’s sense of humor came into the conversation during a press conference on Wednesday.
Kingsbury at Texas Tech went 35-40 in 6 years, while Meyer at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State went 187-32 in 17 years.
This season, Kingsbury’s Arizona Cardinals are off to a 2-0 start, while Meyer’s Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-2. They meet at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in Jacksonville.
Kliff Kingsbury was asked about the parallels between the 2019 Cardinals and 2021 Jaguars, given that there were first-time NFL coaches (Urban Meyer in Jax) and No. 1 overall picks as QBs.
Kingsbury deadpanned, “Two wildly successful college coaches.”
