In his fourth year at Florida, Emory Jones is finally the starting quarterback after waiting the past three seasons behind Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask.

Jones was a highly sought-after recruit and has impressed in off-the-bench appearances, but his first start has many Gator fans calling for the backup quarterback, Anthony Richardson.

On Saturday, against FAU, it was Richardson’s turn to be the off-the-bench quarterback.

Jones is 10-of-16 passing for 76 yards, a touchdown and an interception, along with 7 carries for 52 yards. Richardson has not thrown a pass in the game, rushing 3 times for 28 yards. Jones’ interception came in the red zone when he returned on a drive that Richardson had led down the field. On the next possession, Jones tried a QB sneak from too far out, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Here’s what fans are saying about the backup from Gainesville on Twitter:

The Gators lead FAU 14-0 at the half. It will be interesting to see how each QB fares in the second half.
