On Saturday, Florida officially listed 15 players as unavailable for the Missouri game. Most uninjured players were presumed to be out due to COVID quarantine. Reports say one of the players listed as unavailable opted-out earlier this season.

Gators beat reporters Graham Hall and Jacquie Franciulli both reported that redshirt senior defensive back C.J. McWilliams opted-out. Hall’s Gainesville Sun article says McWilliams opted-out after UF’s season-opening win over Ole Miss.

McWilliams joined the program in 2016. His career defensive statistics show he played in 9 games in the 2018 season, recording 16 tackles and 4 passes defended. He had one tackle in the 2020 Florida-Ole Miss game.

A 3-star prospect, McWilliams was recruited out of Southwest Miami by former UF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon, who is now at UCF.
