Rick Neuheisel came away extremely impressed with Florida after their 29-16 home victory vs. Tennessee in Week 3.

During his radio show on SiriusXM, the 62-year-old former head coach of Colorado, Washington, and UCLA marveled at Florida’s lack of mistakes and mental errors after the Gators were littered with them in the opening loss at Utah.

Florida didn’t commit a turnover and only had 30 penalty yards in the win vs. one of its chief rivals. The Gators were also 7-for-14 in converting 3rd down attempts.

This all prompted Neuheisel to compare Florida’s play to Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”, the song that blares at The Swamp heading into each 4th quarter.

“It was as clean as it could be, and for Florida fans, who tell us between the 3rd and 4th quarter they won’t back down, now they won’t,” Neuheisel said.

Next up for No. 25 Florida is a home matchup vs. Charlotte on Sept. 23. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. EST and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
