It wasn’t that long ago Tyson Summers was working as an analyst for Kirby Smart at Georgia.

When former Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker left Athens to take over the Colorado program as the new head coach in Boulder, he hired Summers to run the Buffalo defense.

After two seasons in the Pac-12, Summers is reportedly returning to the SEC East according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com. Zenitz is reporting Dan Mullen is “expected to hire” Summers as an analyst this offseason.

Summer was let go by Colorado’s new head coach, Karl Dorrell, this offseason after one season of working together. Prior to joining Smart’s staff in Athens, Summers served as the head coach at Georgia Southern.

By adding Summers to his Florida staff, Mullen will not only be getting someone who is intimately familiar with his key rival’s program, he’s also getting someone with valuable connections to the Georgia recruiting landscape.
