Damon Wilson is expected to enter the transfer portal after spending 2 seasons at Georgia, according to a report.
That news comes via 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who says Wilson has informed the Georgia coaching staff of his decision. Wilson was a 5-star signee for the Bulldogs back in the class of 2023.
Damon Wilson would be a significant loss for the Bulldogs in 2025 and beyond if he does decide to transfer. In addition to his prospect pedigree, Wilson was productive in a limited role this past season and was expected to play a bigger part of Georgia’s defense next season.
He recorded 22 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 2 forced fumbles for Georgia in 2024. After just 2 seasons at UGA, he was already becoming an increasingly-important part of Kirby Smart’s defense. Wilson played 417 snaps this season for UGA this season, according to Pro Football Focus. That ranked 14th amongst all Georgia defenders.
Georgia will be hoping to take a step forward on both sides of the ball in 2025. Despite winning the SEC, the Bulldogs posted worse yards-per-play averages on both offense and defense in 2024 compared to 2023.
Wilson will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
