With an injury at the running back position ahead of their playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday signed former Georgia RB Elijah Holyfield, the team announced.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders has an ankle sprain, so the team brought on Holyfield to be the fourth active running back to roster. Sanders is reportedly expected to play, but Holyfield will be with the Eagles in case he’s needed on Sunday.

Holyfield, who went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, spent much of the season with the Carolina Panthers, most recently on the practice squad. Holyfield saw limited action in the preseason, but hasn’t seen the field since.

Holyfield was named a permanent team captain by the 2018 Georgia team in a season in which he was Georgia’s second-leading rusher, with 1,018 yards on 159 carries (6.4 avg.) with seven TDs. He reached the 100-yard mark twice, highlighted by his 115 yards on 18 carries at Kentucky.
