Former Georgia DL Geno Atkins makes heart-warming holiday contribution to Cincinnati families
When Geno Atkins isn’t terrorizing opposing offenses, he’s doing his part of help those in need this holiday season.
The former Georgia defensive lineman and his wife are making financial contributions to Cincinnati families this week, which Atkins has been documenting on his social media accounts with the hashtag #AtkinsWeekOfGiving. Atkins handed out gift cards to 15 area families on Monday before doing the same for seven more the following day.
It was amazing to kick off #AtkinsWeekOfGiving by calling some of these deserving people and families directly. Happy holidays to our Day 1 recipients! More to come tomorrow. @ChassisForMen pic.twitter.com/zboXON1RIP

Day 2 in the books. More deserving families and incredible stories. It has been inspiring to hear how people push through and rely on their faith through hard times. @ChassisForMen #AtkinsWeekOfGiving https://t.co/GcncJqQOrKhttps://t.co/eqeXbxUm77 pic.twitter.com/oAERfOcj6S

But Atkins and his wife have done more than just provide gift cards, according to the below tweet from Adam Schefter.
Bengals’ Pro Bowl DT @GenoSacks and his wife Kristen surprised 50-plus Cincinnati families this holiday season by paying house and medical bills, to adoption funds, tuition assistance, a shopping spree and QT with patients at @CincyChildrens. https://t.co/VGcp9U2s93

But it appears that there’s more to come from Atkins, who dominated at Georgia before the Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. The two-time All-Pro selection has made 35 tackles and seven sacks this season, and he could be in line for his fifth straight Pro Bowl.
Whether that happens or not, Atkins certainly deserves recognition for his recent charitable work.
