Georgia basketball earned a big-time commitment on Thursday.

The Bulldogs beat out Notre Dame, West Virginia and multiple other programs for Nova Southeastern transfer RJ Sunahara.

Here’s his announcement:

Sunahara was named Division II National Player of the Year for his efforts in 2022-23. He averaged 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest last season.

Listed at 6-foot-8, Sunahara is expected to play forward for the Bulldogs next season.

He joins a Georgia program that has overhauled its roster this offseason. Georgia has signed a quartet of 4-star prospects out of high school in the class of 2023.

The Bulldogs also have commitments from 5 transfers so far this cycle. UGA’s incoming transfer list includes RJ Melendez, Jalen Deloach and Noah Thomasson.

This will be Mike White’s 2nd year at the helm in Athens. He will be trying to lead Georgia to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015.
