Georgia tops Florida in Game 1 of NCAA softball Super Regional
Georgia softball is one win away from going to the Women’s College World Series.
The Bulldogs topped No. 4 seed Florida 4-0 in Game 1 of the best-of-three Gainesville Super Regional. Mary Wilson Avant tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing only three hits over her 103-pitch outing.
Avant’s run support came via the longball. In the top of the third, Jaiden Fields put the first run on the board with a solo shot.

In the seventh, Payden Bordeau provided some insurance with a three-run homer to make it 4-0, the game’s final score.
Payden Bordeau’s fourth home run of the season is a 3️⃣-run SHOT in her first Super Regional game and Georgia has some HUGE insurance in the seventh!!

UGA will look to avoid a repeat of the regular-season series. In April, Georgia won the series opener 4-2 but Florida came back to take the series in Athens with 17-1 and 8-1 victories.
