Gainesville must have really left an impression on Jalen Kimber over the weekend as the four-star defensive back from Texas just announced his commitment to Georgia.

The Arlington native unofficially visited Florida over the weekend for the Orange & Blue spring game but instead of committing to the Gators coming off that visit, Kimber announced his pledge to join Kirby Smart’s program leading up to his official visit to Athens for Georgia’s G-Day Game.

247Sports Composite Rankings list Kimber as a four-star prospect, the No. 16 cornerback in the nation and the No. 239 overall recruit in the nation for the 2020 recruiting cycle. He currently holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M among many others.

His commitment to Georgia gives the Bulldogs six total commitments for the 2020 recruiting cycle and pushed the class into the top 10 rankings nationally and a top 5 class in the SEC. Kimber is the first defensive back to join the class and the first prospect to commit not from the states of Georgia or Florida.

Kimber’s lead recruiter for Georgia? None other than Charlton Warren, which has to make Florida fans wonder if they didn’t “upgrade” after Warren left Gainesville for Athens if they would have landed the Lone Star State native.
