It didn’t take long for Georgia to extend its lead in the 3rd quarter at Mississippi State.

The visiting Bulldogs had seen their 1st-half lead trimmed after some curious play calling late in the 2nd quarter allowed MSU to return a punt for a TD in the closing seconds that made it 17-12 at halftime.

But just 47 seconds into the 3rd quarter, Ladd McConkey ripped off a 70-yard touchdown run to push the advantage to 24-12.

Top-ranked Georgia would move to 10-0 with a victory Saturday and also clinch the SEC East title.

That would secure a berth in the SEC Championship game against LSU, which clinched the SEC West with its win over Arkansas on Saturday and Ole Miss’ loss to Alabama.
