Mac Jones made a visit to his hometown of Jacksonville this week, and walked the grounds at TPC Sawgrass and The Players Championship ahead of the PGA Tour stop.
The former Alabama star and New England Patriots QB visited officials and players on the driving range and the course, and said golf is something he likes to do to get away from football at times.
Kevin Kisner, a proud former Georgia golfer and vocal fan of the Bulldogs, chatted with Jones and learned that he was from the area.
“Why didn’t you go to Georgia then,” Kisner said.
Jones replied, “They didn’t offer me! Oh my God, you and David Andrews, c’mon now.”
Kisner said, “He’s an animal, isn’t he?”
Jones said, “Oh yeah, and he loves Georgia more than anybody else.”
Lee Hodges, a former Alabama golfer who transferred from UAB, asked Jones how different the NFL was from college.
“Not too bad, the two like organizations,” Jones said. “You know how it is, they’re pretty like-minded people.
Hodges and Jones then watched a video of Nick Saban on the driving range, and couldn’t critique him much, and had a good laugh and agreed that Saban wasn’t bad at all playing golf.
