5-star linebacker Smael Mondon updates his recruitment, preparing to announce his college commitment
One of the nation’s top overall prospects is ready to end his college recruitment.
Five-star linebacker Smael Mondon of Paulding County in Dallas, Ga., just announced his plans to announce his college commitment on Wednesday morning.
“I’ll be committing tomorrow at 8:30 am at the Paulding County High School football field. All guests welcome,” Mondon shared on Twitter.
Mondon will be picking between Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Paulding County standout is rated as the No. 27 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 outside linebacker and the No. 3 overall prospect from Georgia in the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He plans to enroll early in the school he commits to on Wednesday morning. Mondon had been selected to play in the All-American Bowl but the high school all-star showcase game was canceled this year due to COVID.
In addition to being a star on the football field for Paulding County High School, Mondon also runs track.

Not much suspense here. he is uga bound. Would love to have him but the chances were not great before UT fell off the cliff. Think Auburn was always a distant 3rd but they may have moved up to first loser status since UT fell apart.
Auburn was probably running 1a before losing to South Carolina.
I’m hearing he doesn’t like covering running backs out of the backfield and wants to go to Georgia because they don’t expect him to.
very good
Now that right there is funny.
He’s been injured most of the year. His team isn’t that good so he probably has been prepping for college.
Yes! Go Dawgs!
