Stetson Bennett was called upon to start at quarterback for Georgia on Saturday afternoon, and he delivered in a big way.

Filling in for the injured JT Daniels, Bennett threw 5 touchdown passes in the first half against UAB. That tied the Bulldogs record for most touchdown passes in a game, per The Athletic.

Not only that, but 3 of Bennett’s TD passes were for more than 60 yards, making him only the third FBS player in the past 15 years to have a trio of 60-plus-yard touchdown throws in a half, along with Patrick Mahomes (2016) and Casey Pachall (2011), according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Bennett completed 8 of his 9 attempts and amassed 269 yards through the air over the first 2 quarters.

With Daniels out due to an oblique injury, Georgia turned to Bennett, a redshirt senior who began the 2020 season as the team’s starting quarterback. He threw 8 touchdown passes in 8 games last year, so he’s already more than halfway to that mark through his first half of 2021.

Georgia led UAB, 35-0, at the half and was well on its way to a 2-0 start.
