DeAndre Square announced on Wednesday that he would not play in the Music City Bowl on Saturday against Iowa because of a lingering injury and personal reasons.
“I hope I left Kentucky better than I found it,” he wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way. #BBN I’ll never stop loving you.”
Square also wrote that he’ll be cheering for the Wildcats and concentrating on the NFL to chase his dreams of being a professional football player.
This news was not a surprise since Square was not listed on a depth chart released ahead of the bowl game. Square suffered a lower leg injury at Tennessee, and missed 3 games after that before he returned to play in the win over Louisville to close the regular season.
