Kentucky has agreed to a settlement with NCAA enforcement following an investigation into impermissible benefits received by nearly a dozen Kentucky players. Kentucky will vacate records from games that included ineligible players, per the announcement.

That news comes after the NCAA announced it had reached a settlement agreement with Kentucky regarding violations committed within the football and swimming programs. Kentucky’s football program will also be on probation for 2 years and will pay an undisclosed fine. The Wildcats will not serve a postseason ban for these infractions, however.

According to the NCAA’s announcement, 11 Kentucky players received compensation for work not performed between the spring of 2021 and March of 2022. The NCAA says 8 of those student-athletes went on to play for Kentucky and receive “actual and necessary benefits while ineligible.”

As part of the agreement, the NCAA acknowledged that no member of Kentucky’s staff knew or “reasonably should have known” about the violations.

Kentucky went 10-3 during the 2021 season, which will now face further scrutiny. At this time, it’s unclear how many of those 10 wins will be officially vacated from the record books. That 2021 campaign served as just the 4th double-digit win season in Kentucky’s history.

Back in September of 2022, it was reported that Kentucky football players were being investigated for filling out inaccurate time cards while working as patient transporters for UK HealthCare. The report, from the Lexington Herald-Leader, cited an open records request. Names of specific players who were involved were redacted from the record.

Regardless of how many wins will be vacated, head coach Mark Stoops will remain as the all-time winningest coach in program history. Prior to any wins being vacated, Stoops has 73 victories during his time in Lexington. Bear Bryant is 2nd all-time with 60.

Kentucky will open the 2024 season with Southern Miss on Aug. 31.
