Kentucky was flying high coming into its game against Georgia. The Wildcats were undefeated and coming off a big win against Florida.

They were quickly humbled by Georgia, losing to the Bulldogs 51-33.

For head coach Mark Stoops, it was a wake up call and a testament to the importance of practicing well. Stoops spoke to the media Monday and shared his thoughts on what the difference was between Kentucky and Georgia’s preparation coming into the game.

“We have to get back to being who were are,” Stoops said. “Somebody shot me an article that talked about Georgia and their approach and they knew that it was going to be a physical game and they preached it all week. It just reaffirmed what I tell my team all the time about Tuesday and Wednesday. 3 or 4 of their players are sitting their talking about how the game was won throughout the week. It was their most physical Tuesday, they were prepared that way, they had the mindset, they answered the challenge. We did not. We have to get back to being who we are and having a great prep week.”

Stoops and the Wildcats have built their brand on playing physical, but Georgia came into the game with more physicality and it resulted in a big win.

Now Stoops is hoping the game will be a wake up call on the importance of great preparation. This week, he is hoping his team will prepare well as they get ready to face a tough Missouri team on Saturday.
